The Fast and the Butt-Ugly

So there's not much on TV tonight, and The Fast and the Furious is on FXHD. Despite the inane acting, sub-par writing, and improbability of the whole thing, the movie's entertaining and should be a car lover's dream. But I can't help but be bothered by the way all those hot cars are RUINED with insanely stupid gawd-awful paint jobs and decals. How ricey can you get? Is this an early 00s thing or will the new one be like this, too?

Hey I am watching it too! My favorite movie yes I admit that I own all three of them! I am going this weekend to see the new one most likely Saturday night and yes I plan to wear my JDM t-shirt! LOL! The new one looks to be great and they say that the cars are not all decaled out like the first one. Things have changed in the tuner world since that first one. It will be interesting to see how this one influences a new generation of - ops Lenny just wreaked her Civic - ouch! Anyway, just hope that no one does any burn outs in their Mom's van after seeing the film! Oh the good part Paul is saving Vince off the 18 wheeler! Well, I am closing to watch the ending!

i thought all the movies were equally bad... the first one, however, was just a technical nightmare. the writers obviously didn't know s.hit about cars and just threw together a bunch of automotive terms and phrases hoping the dialogue would sound cool

the last one is the only one where the people in charge tried to avoid offending people who actually care about cars....

lol i totally agree.

From the first F&F movie:

Vin Diesel: I hope that 100 shot of NoS didn't blow the welds on the intake (huh?)

Vin Diesel: Granny Shifting not double clutching like you should(??? - who double clutches in a drag race?!?)

Squeeky ADD guy (can't remember his name): 2JZ engine! No sh.t!!!! (what the eff did you expect to be inside that Supra? I'd be more surprised to see a 4ag or an old school 18rg in there)

I almost hope that the new F&F movie has gawdy body kits and stupid ricer stuff on all the cars. That way we'll know who all the silly fanboys (and fangirls) are when they think that it's cool to have god-awefully gawdy body kits which actually inhibit the airflow around the vehicle and vinyls and purge valves that spew more nitrous into the atmosphere than into their engines...lol

too bad the cars in the new one are actually quite nice (cuz universal didn't make 2 of the main ones lol) but the hero car the STI is actually a stock STI with a Front mount interfooler, not attached to anything, with wheels and two tone paint one word PA-THETIC!

yea, i think import or hondatuner has an article on a couple cars. the skyline has an rb26 or something in it doesn't it.. :( other than the swap it's clean and relativley respectable...especially compared to the sti, coulda been so much cleaner if it was just left oem.

The director Justin Lin did Tokyo Drift which I thought was a really great movie after FF 2 and is handling this one too. He wanted to redeem the film to show respect for the cars so I think everyone is going to be surprised by this one. Yes the first one had some very lame writing but it is just a movie but it is so much fun of a ride! Our local radio station is hosting the Friday night showing at the local movie theatre. They are asking for any one driving a car with aftermarket parts to stop in and display their cars before the movie is shown. That should be interesting!

Just got back from the midnight showing. Wasn't planning on watching it, but my buddy said he'd pay for my ticket if I drove my super fast drifting rubber burning Honda Fit so that it would blend in with the rest of the cars in the theater parking lot.

Short Review: Overall entertaining, actually somewhat of a story line (or at least moreso than the first one), NO AWESOME LINES that I can repeat over and over again while I'm in the shower :( . This makes me sad because telling my penis, "I NEVER KNOCKED ON NOBODY!" is getting old and I was hoping for some new lines. Unlike the first movie where the cars were the star of the show, the story line was the primary layer in this movie, and the cars were just there. Michelle Rodriguez is still ugly and creeps me out. I'm feeling nice tonight. I'll give it an 8/10 compared to the old ones.
