Chris Rado's Scion TC = Most Rediculous Spoiler Setup = Ugliest Race Car

cant you get more downforce out of the front bumper without having to add the spoiler? the front is so smooth, it looks like it was a dragster at some point or something.. lol
throw some canards on, angle some shit... and you could probably get some decent downforce going. But damn that wing seems really over-the-top :(

rag on the front spoiler all you want but this is the best example of function-before-form... it's hillbilly-ugly but it works - no offense, hillbillies :)... although, i do agree with everyone else - the way they chose to generate the downforce is just way over the top. canards, bigger front splitters, even a subtle hood mounted spoiler like the one on the lamborghini would have been less "look at me."
now with that said, lets get back to making fun of how ridiculous it looks: "yo, dawg. we put a spoiler in front of yo' windshield so you can't see where you're going, when you're going."

your philosophy is the complete opposite of the car in question
do u think that any, sorry, even one of his sponsors would want less "look at me" ...(because i win)?

who said anything about the TC's sponsors? i was pointing out the functional benefit of using said spoiler versus canards/splitters/winglets..

The thing is, the owners and driver of the car took the time and effort and properly utilized the front spoiler to get the desired results.
If he keeps doing well, then there will be a bunch of idiots that just start randomly throw spoilers on their hoods.

I was going to say it's a perfect example of form following function. It actually works, and is needed for that kind of horsepower.
Just as long as it doesn't start showing up on ricers cars, then it's good. :D

a rear wing will help keep the rear planted during cornering; it doesn't matter if the car is fwd, rwd, or awd. if you lift off the throttle or brake, weight comes off the rear tires and a rear wing will help counteract this. that's why you see rear wings on fwd track cars. there is a function, and downforce is always a plus.
