1993 Ford Mustang LX - should I buy it?

actually, more people say that about hondas...but you're probably right, i'm sure real men drive hondas with that neck breaking VTEC power...bwahahahaha...

I wouldn't buy it personally, your money is best spent on something with more value. I had a friend pick up an LX is "good condition" with the 4cylinder, he ended up getting rid of it because of all the underlying problems it had (sputtering engine, was eating spark plugs, overheating on hot days, ect)
Unless you are going to use it as a shell to build onto, is it reasonably clean of rust?
One post?? Real Men have better things to do than sign up at a forum to specifically lip off a bunch of people dogging a 900$ Mustang... get a life troll.
Awwww, your "rep" went all red. Looks like you are a loser

if you read correctly, they weren't "dogging" a $900 mustang, they were dogging mustangs and their drivers in general. Before you open your mouth and talk shit about another car and it's drivers...first make sure you have a legitimate reason to, or you drive a car that is far superior...and they don't "fit" either of those criteria...
It has no rust, and I don't plan on keeping it. My plan is to buy it for cheap, drive it to work with a for sale sign on it until someone buys it, then make a few hundred bucks and move on. The body is in excellent condition, only thing wrong outside is paint is faded on the C-pillar.
One reason I want to get it is because the only car I have at the moment has a car loan on it. In the economy, and with my contempt for my job, anyone could lose their job at any moment. I lose my job, my Fit get's repo'd and I don't have a car. No car means I'm trekking on foot and hoping to get to my new job. So an emergency beater wouldn't hurt.

What exactly makes a Mustang superior to a Fit just out of curiousity;
Reliability? No, that can't be it
Gas Mileage? can you say +40mpg?
Ability to corner? Ha, I beat a couple of mustangs in race events already!
Versitility?
Oh right, if you hit the gas in a V8 mustang you go fast... well done, that sure takes a lot of talent.

No fuel injection though, right?
Fuel injected. I think last year for carb was 1986.
That is good, I think Ford uses a version of the bullet proof Bosch K-jetronic system in the early 90's models, that at least elliminates all the problems that come along with carbs :)
I was lucky, my first car was a fuel injected version of the 81' 320i.. same injector system as a lot of Fords that came out a few years later. Literally was a bulletproof car, I had 420,000 clicks on it when I finally sold it 3 years later... for the same price I bought it for :)
I would vote for the Integra; not because I am a crazy Honda fan boy, but because you will get more use out of it... it will be more reliable and better on fuel; plus when it comes time to start building it up it is way more rewarding to do up a car like an Integra that can compete in autocross and other fun motor sports rather than a V8 Mustang which usually don't do much other than drag racing... and with cars these days like the Jeep SRT8 and the SRT4 Neon it kind of takes the wind out of the sails for anything without 400hp at the strip.
My sentiments exactly. Plus with nearly any year of Honda from 1988-1999 there are so many B engines found in so many places with so many interchangable parts, that you just can't go wrong. Easy of finding parts, reliability and the ability to make lots of power. Fits into any budget.
Purchased! It's mechanically sound. A good shampooing of the interior carpet is in need. Was FILTHY from sitting. No mechanical repairs are needed, just gonna change oil and spark plugs next weekend. Have a new driver seat to install (current one is reclined back and won't go upright). Replaced sun visors last night, the old ones were ripped. New seat and visors came with car. Paid $800, and it has 104,323 original miles. 1993 LX with the alloy wheels and sun roof. Have two tires to install on rear. No extra cost for seat, visors, extra tires. And a pair of Addidas shoes were thrown in. lol My freind forgot they were in the car. I needed new shoes BAD. Minimul rust (paint chipped around door edges), and one rust spot on hood the size of my pinky finger from a tree branch scratching the paint. Looks just like the below, minus window banner.
