1200 hp 1955 Chevy

I don't know how many of you like these type of cars, but here is my cousins 1955 Chevy. Its a Pro-Charged 372 small block puttin down 1242 HP and 968 ft lbs of torque. He is doing it all himself and here is a picture trail and video. Enjoy!! :)

its so simple. back in the days where motor's were metal and computer's could only solve 8+9.

TurboManGT 09-14-2009 06:11 PM

Yup, the pro-charger is pretty complicated though. It spins at 55k rpm!!! The internals are very complex.

yeah but tuning on these is all mechanical. i hate carbs but they are so much easier than the ecu and injector tuning of today.

They are great for certain applications but boy do they drink gas like a fish.

I didn't know fish drank gas... Oh, maybe you meant like fish drink water.... wait, they dont do that either. lol

Sweet ride though!

Oh I completely agree. The engine is already tuned, just need to finish the body and interior.

pretty sick! those back tires are HUGE.

^^^ why dont you delete your sig if those coils arent for sale anymore?

Monster horsepower! My girlfreind and I are looking for an old Chevy or Ford to do a restoration on. I get to do the mechanical aspects and she gets to do the cosmetic stuff. lol So if anyone ever sees a bright pink classic hotrod with flower interior and putting down 1000+ HP, that's probably us. :)

Hahaha good luck with that!!!

Edison Carasio 09-15-2009 05:48 PM

lol Just kidding. I think she's looking for two tone teal/white outside with white interior. Not too shabby I guess. We are still years away from having cash to do that though.

MPGs not 1st concern

Something tells me he didn't build the shoe box for good gas mileage... Does your cousin run in Sportsman or Outlaw class? Or is he gonna terrorize the streets in that beast?

TurboManGT 09-30-2009 03:37 PM

He only plans on running it at the strip a few times. He is building this for mainly show purposes.

grtpumpkin 09-30-2009 04:41 PM

I bet he will be fastest on and off the trailer by a mile! LOL

Kittengolf 09-30-2009 08:23 PM

Pure seks. Not a fan of most muscle, but this seems like a competent and thorough build. Absolutely amazing work.

TurboManGT 10-02-2009 02:35 PM

Yeah I don't really prefer muscle cars either, but he has thought this through and is doing everything the right way.

grtpumpkin 10-02-2009 10:34 PM

A 55 Chevy isn't really a muscle car per se. I guess what he is building would be called a Pro Touring car, but not really since he won't be using it as a driver. Still a really nice build though....

TurboManGT 10-03-2009 10:44 PM

Oh no he is still going to drive this car. The beauty of the Pro-Charger system is you can drive on the street or the strip with 1000 plus HP. Now the MPG could be a problem haha

grtpumpkin 10-04-2009 11:44 AM

Yeah really! I went on a rod run with a bunch of T-buckets a few years ago and those guys have to stop about every hour to fill up! Something about supercharged small blocks and six gallon fuel tanks....LOL
