i havent checked one out yet but the more i drive my mom's car, the more i miss luxury cars :(
Of course driving the Fit so extremely fun and rewarding but i just like the feeling of being in an upscale vehicle. I was always a fan of the TSX until i checked one out the other day... lets just say FWD and lots of weight dont make a great car.
Anyone have experience with ISs? i've actually never been in a 250/350 but i have in a 300

if you're in the market for a luxury sport sedan i HIGHLY recommend you cross shop the legacy 2.5gt spec-b. both the legacy spec-b and IS have a similar starting price. the spec-b may be slightly higher but you get more standard features with the higher cost.
if i could afford a luxury sedan, i would sell my Fit too :3

IS all the way. I dated a girl with a IS350.... Lets just say i seriously love that car! Interior is one of the most comfy, well put together cars ive ever sat in. Theres not really a thing i dont like about the inside or outside of the 250/350.
My sister has a IS300 and even that is sick as hell.

hey hey! everyone always reps love for Fits so much! i didnt expect such a response. Yea i was thinking about trading in the Fit not because i hate it, i'm just "finished" for right now, i'd definitely get one in future again but for now i'm just wanting a little change. I'm looking at the IS250 since i already dealt with how service-hungry german cars could be (mom's car). I wanted to find something almost as reliable as a fit and still get decent gas mileage. Oh i was looking at the 6-speed one too.
of course it wouldn't be a new one... im a college student! haha but here is the specific one i was looking at. Colors were hard to come by, i prefer no black inside and out and came up with this, it's a bit garish but i think it'll grow after some time :)

Just test drove the car guys!! haha honestly i it wasnt as great as i was hoping. The clutch caught at the top like our Fits BUT it was heavy...fail. Power was lacking in the low end but aplenty up top... i was kinda hoping there'd be more low end torque. The shifter position also felt unnatural and the arm rest could not be moved out of the way for more spirited driving... i guess im used to the Fit's lack of armrest.
The good? LEATHER!!! soft...supple...plush leather! The interior design also kicks alot of ass, very elegant. Keyless entry was cool, sound system was excellent, and a QUIET interior was just unheard of., especially coming from the Fit.
power delivery was smooth but i think the clutch has a pretty restrictive CDV like german cars to try and "smooth out" inexperienced drivers. It was a little shaky when catching. Handling felt quite good but i didnt push it since i was unfamiliar with the area/car.
Overall i think it's a VERY nice car, i just like the Fit more cuz of it's personality. It's not so much laid back and chill car like the IS, it WANTS to play. I know most peopel would say that's due to the weight and stuff but i think my mom's car is very playful. The newer style IS is probably best bought with a 6-speed auto... manual just didn't feel that alive in this car, the gears are a bit wide too so it kinda takes away from the fun
i'll probably just find some nice coilovers, a head unit and dynamat... my car suits me well, it just needs some fine-tuning
oh btw some lady crashed into me on the way to the dealer :(

I went to longo to look at that car yesterday. They were pretty firm on the price because it's rare for an IS250 stick. I wasnt in the market for a new car, but just wanted to yank the dealer's chain.
Now, before i drove my fit i had an 2002 IS300, 5spd manual, all stock, with navigation, 32,000 miles. I bought it in Oct. 2008 for $14k. I can say that was one of the better cars ive driven. its SMOOTH. the power isn't great but the engine was so smooth. very torquey as well as my traction light comes on everytime i step a bit harder on the gas after a turn.
But i sold it. The reason being is gas mileage. Yes, the IS250 gets better gas mileage, but I was not too used to the gas mileage on a 6 cylinder compare to a 4 cylinder (I had a 99 prelude 5 spd before the IS). I was paying $45 every 5 days. and the clutch was super heavy it was pretty hard to get it to drive and shift smooth.
i admit, luxury cars are nice and it seems like you are leaning towards the IS anyways. if you really want a stick..then jump on this since they are pretty rare...but the colors both inside and outside won't do it for me. I rather get an auto than that color.
you'll enjoy the IS and i think your mom might even jump ship and get a Lexus in the future once she sees how smooth and reliable a lexus is. But i did hear the IS250 is pretty weak and handles like a boat compare to the IS300.
either way, IS250 vs Fit...both good cars. luxury vs gas mileage...you win either way.
