Porsche could be working on ultra-hardcore GT2 RS designed specifically for track days, PistonHeads has learnt.
Despite the fact the 530bhp GT2 is already blisteringly quick a source close to the German carmaker revealed that a faster, lighter and more powerful version is on the cards.
The latest GT2 has managed to shake off the ‘widow maker’ status of old but some owners have found it more suited to the road than the track. An RS version would solve that and could be the quickest road-going Porsche around a track ever, bar perhaps the GT1.
If it goes ahead the new car is rumoured to feature a Perspex rear window and centre-locking wheels. There would also be other substantial weight-saving measures to contribute to an incredible 200kg reduction. [1,240 kg (27280 lbs)]
Power is expected to be increased by 50bhp to 580bhp and it is thought that just ten RHD examples will be built. If it does make it to production expect the GT2 to make an this Spring.
