CR-Z specs are disappointing

Honda released the specs for the CR-Z and they are well, pretty weak.

122hp and 33mpg for the 6-speed version. How is it that our Fits can rival that combined mileage with two more doors and the lack of batteries?

Maybe they could make a limited run K-powered version. We can dream can't we?
Honda CR-Z: 122 HP, 33 MPG, Worst Of All Worlds - honda cr-z hybrid - Jalopnik

Give it the Civic engine, at the very least. I don't understand why build a car that tries to slot between the Fit and the Insight. though a 6 speed is nice.....

Maybe.....maybe not. I bet if I had a 6th gear I'd hit 45 mpg with ease

If it uses the L15, I wonder if the transmission could be swapped into a Fit? I don't know if the engine is an L like ours , or a R like the Civic. The Civic Hybrid does use a L though.

All I know, is that someone will K-swap it in no time.

K20 and it'd be a cool car like i've always said, this hybrid thing in a two seater doesn't fly with me. Plus 33 mpg's? My dad gets that in his 06 RSX TypeS.
If Honda gives us a Si, with a K20 id be interested.

Keep in mind the CRX was about the same in terms of power to weight ratio when it came out. Even the Si wasn't much better.

The difference is that the CRX didn't have the added weight, complexity, or cost that the hybrid CR-Z has.

I just don't get making a hybrid with mediocre fuel mileage, the added weight and complexity of IMA and nothing to show for it besides really low rpm torque.

I don't even know if the thing is really tunable with the IMA system.

yea, same as everyone else...why'd honda release it with specs like this/these? I guess it goes to fit another group of drivers/consumers but still? fit gets better mpg and has more space...granted less power but whatevs on that note. cool car, needs a k n it'll be on dragstrips in no time...then again it'd be cheaper to kswap a crx n get better times :/

Speaking on just a design standpoint, the production CRZ looks absolutely horrible compared to the concept - just look at the profiles of the two and you'll see an immediate loss of what made the concept look great.

Honda's design team needs to lay off the sake

Hmm if the 6-speed would work well in the Fit I would be interested. Other than that, Honda wouldn't fail if it wasn't for the mpgs. Isn't that what Hybrids are for?

Fugly. The second version of the concept was beautiful. Why'd they have to eff it up?!

Here is a great review by a CRX owner.

Don't Believe The Hype: The CR-Z Is Not A New CRX - Detroit Auto Show - Jalopnik

The worst part about the CR-Z? It weighs 2800 lbs!
