Good Riddance Dealer Stickers/Badges
Good Riddance Dealer Stickers/Badges
Good Riddance! You aren't missed.
OK, anyone else notice that the dealer stick-on badges seem to have disappeared off new cars in the past five years or so? It used to be almost guaranteed that a dealership was going to slap a sticker on the back of your new car, or worse, a fake chrome badge.
My Element had one*, but my Fit didn't... both of the new cars my Ex-wife bought in the last 3 years don't have them. In fact, I see almost no cars even driving around here that have them (and I seriously doubt that anyone is going through the trouble of peeling off those dealership stickers while leaving the car dealer license frame in place.
* In fact, when they were looking the Element over for the trade in, they commented on the sticker... "Why the f... did they stick that on there?"

The local Honda dealers here all use the same Honda-esque "font" but attach these plastic chrome letters advertising their name to the back of anything they sell. They also stick two plate frames on the car, front and rear, advertising the dealer name.
When you go in for service, there is a checklist on the form they fill out when they give the car a walkaround that says "needs plate frame" like if you don't have one already they're going to GIVE you one...

My first official mod was stripping off the dealer stickers and plate frames. And love the way local dealers around Washington have the vinyl lettering in the back window of their service loaners as well. I would be highly un-thrilled when dropping off my IS-F to discover I would be driving a ES350 which screams SERVICE LOANER in fifteen inch letters. If I owned an IS-F, and i ever went to te dealer for service
Cat :x
Same here - told the dealer I will refuse delivery if any logo or sticker.
First mod: replace dealer license plate holder.

Made an effort to look for dealer stickers today on my way home. Across new, old, stock, etc., driving in city traffic at rush hour for around 7 miles, I saw (drumroll)
One sticker. And it was a car from Virginia.
I'm thinking it must've been an east coast thing.

Mom's Buick has a riveted-on (yes, they drilled holes!) dealer emblem, but it was originally sold in El Paso, where rust is not an issue.
Dealers in the DC area are almost rabid with competition when it comes to advertising. It is almost inevitable to get license plate frames advertising the dealership in this area.
My parents' 08 subaru came with a stupid dealer badge and so did our '10 fit. I waited for a hot day to take off the one on the honda. I used a flat head screw driver to pry and a microfiber cloth to protect the paint. I did it really slowly and patiently.
It should be illegal for dealerships to add adhesive badging. I'm still haven't got round to removing the plate frames though. So many people have them that you hardly notice them. Kinda defeats the purpose of advertising though.

Funny thing I just noticed on some service paperwork from my first oil change. There's a box on the service form that says "requires plate frame". I wonder if they add their advertising frames to cars that go in for service and where people have taken them off!
I still have one frame on - the front one - mostly because I don't usually notice it. But the back one (and the dealer stickers which were actual plastic individual letters spelling out the dealer name) was gone fast!

The dealer plate frames were the first thing to come off the car. Thankfully out here they don't put on anyother dealer badges. Oh, and the "KARR' alarm stickers on the front door windows came off at the same time.
In my area, I don't see a lot of dealer stickers or badges. BUT dealers still like to provide incredibly cheap license plate frames advertising their dealership.
I bought the car, I don't feel like adding a cheap ass frame and providing free advertising. Those are among the first things to disappear.
