Bought another car - 1991 CRX
Bought another car - 1991 CRX
Paid $2000 (It was $1800, but tossed in another $200 to buy some old guy out).
Lowered on new coilovers, shocks and springs (no name brand, I'm assuming eBay generics)
New axles
New alternator
New thermostat
15'' SSK 053 wheels (basically Spoon SW388 replicas) with no curbs or knicks
New tires, can't remember brand but they are loud as heck
Full and clean interior with only blemish being torn driver seat
New windshield
Eclipse head unit with stock speakers.
About 180 compression in all cylinders.
DIY short ram intake (battery remained in stock location)
I'm the third owner. First owner gave the guy I bought it from ALL the service records dating back to original purchase in 1991. Outside is pretty straight. Some rust near rear wheels, all total about the size of a tennis ball. Hood has a fair amount of rock chips as the previous owner drove it about 100 highway miles a day. Car starts up, idles and runs great. Seems to run as good as my Fit at highway speeds. The ONLY downside is . . . . . . it's an auto.
But I drive about 60 miles each way through downtown St. Louis traffic, and it's my daily (for now), so the auto will make my commute much easier lol. Only mechanical thing it needs is a new blower motor so I'm not sweating while sitting in traffic (I have to wear full suit and tie to work, so pit stains are frowned upon).
Here's pics from previous owner. Taken before the rust started, otherwise looks pretty much the same.

Plans are (in order):
Fix wheel bearings
Fix seat
Fix rust (on the Accord which was way worse, I got a $500 painted estimate, and it had full holes from a retired hotrod guy)
5 speed swap
D16z6 head swap
but the trans/head or any engine swaps are not under consideration until the current stuff blows up.

really good find! about the cancer there is a company that makes a repair panel to fix it right Auto Body Rust Repair Panels
also i love the fact that you have the auto, thosw things are sooooooo rare and with a z6 head this car will be a blast to drive, i will keep my eyes peeled here and wanna watch any progress you make on her
i suppose we should start a club called 1FitCrx - i know we'd get alot of intrest

Update: replaced seats with Del Sol seats welded to ED rails, added BA (third gen) Prelude steering wheel.

Think I might try to squeez a few more ponies from the engine, leave it auto, Z6 with MPFI swap and beef up suspension/braking and autocross it.
I'll be hella slow in a straight line, but at least might go quick through the corners! lol

we should have the mods make a crx forum.
about the rust, its repairable, but that kind of rust would be enough to deter me from buying it. my rex didnt even have that bad of rust and my car was outside, uncovered for 2 years with no windows.

I looked for months and it was the cleanest one I could find =/ Sad I know.
i know its too late for suggestions, but i bet you could have found a california crx for 1500 in better condition and had it shipped to you. it is pretty cool that you have all of the records of servicing though. that makes life alot easier.
You really want to see it? It is nothing special. The reason that we are getting rid of it is because shaken is coming up and it has major rust holes on the top (water leaks into the car).
I'll try and take some pics today.
