Ever buried that needle on the speedo... and kept going?
Done on a closed course in.. Canada..
After recalibrating a speedo in a certain car and then compare it to a GPS and the laptop reading the vehicle speed sensor a friend discovered flat out in 5th you can hit (and pass) 185mph on stock size tires and a stock 1G FWD DSM 5spd transmission at only 7500rpm.

It was still pulling too, and redline is set at 9250 which would come at about 228mph. Not saying it currently has the power to hit the limiter, but its far closer than I would've guessed.
Ran out of room and realized a real need for aero-work.

Also food for thought:
With a .35Cd (rough approximation), and ~23 sq. ft. frontal area you *only* need about 550whp to hit 200mph in a Fit. at sea level Thats including a full tank of fuel, a generous 60lbs for the big and small turbo, intercooler, meth system and my 300lbs in the car.
It'll take a long time to get there though.
We'll need a much taller 5th gear and/or final drive to do it though. 140mph would come up at about 7k rpm on the 5MT GD3s.
Or you have to wind the motor out to ~10k to hit 200mph with supporting shortblock and valvetrain.
I think getting someone like MFactory to make me some new cogs would be cheaper though.

I've certainly thought about it.
But trying to get my 200mph license in the DSM is proving expensive enough. Halon system, roof rails, chute, 10pt cage two main hoops dash bar door bar, SFI suit etc.
The Fit is also much more prone to crosswinds and would need a ton of aero work. Full under body pan, legit chin spoiler and rear diffuser as well as holes in the bumpers and vents on the wheel wells etc.
Also:
1G DSM Cd = .29, Frontal area of 20.4 sq. ft.
1G Fit Cd ~.35, Frontal area ~23 sq. ft.
Would be much more expensive in the Fit. You would probably need to have an interior firewall underneath where the passenger seat is because of the fuel tank location. Not too mention considerable downforce in the back.
A 200mph Fit would be sick though. And really 550whp is not so bad, it is 1/3 the power BMW and others were getting out of their F1 1.5L engines in the 1980s.
If the new job can fund it, and I pick up any sponsors next year for the DSM to take some of the financial burden off me, I would definitely consider it.
Ideally I want to open a shop catering to 1st and 2nd Gen Fits. But that is another project in the works.

200mph in a fit? even if anybody builds it, i would not ride in it... scared that it might flip at top speed... whatever you do to the aero kit, you can't just compensate for the stability needed at 200mph due to the high roof and big butt the fit has...
