First thing wife says is "don't go out and buy a bunch of stuff for it..." hahahaha Only thing so far is a windshield sun screen. Tried the ones from the Weak Dawg Toyota Tacoma (1996 w/ 4 cyl/auto, not real fast...) and they don't fit the Fit. Gotta take some photos and post 'em. One you sent was dead on with color. I drove sticks all my life, then we got the truck in 1999, and got used to auto trans. So I'm a bit rusty with shifting, but it's coming back. Just have to get used to clutch and the way it shifts. Yes, it's in the driveway, next to the poor ol' truck. :-)

The West Wing bumper has a droop under the hood where the urathane material deformes and makes a dip where the hood and bumper meet, and that is where a 3/16" thick x 1" wide flat bar stiffened/straightened this area up. I thought the hood would cover the fasteners after the hood was closed, but it didn't. And that wasn't really horrible or anything just made me think what can I do to hide the mod.... satin car wrap to the rescue.

Installed 2 LED lights on the rear bumper over the licence plate. Also repaired the corner light bulb holders. Now to find a place for the Viper wiring. :D

Mike, I think you're re-building this whole car! But it is really making a difference. Was a nice looking car when you bought it. Now it's mo' betta.

Thanks Cliff
she's a real 4 corner project.
I actually found 3 new OEM dash vents in graphite black and driver's door gasket @ a dealership! What a find, can't wait to install'em.

That's a great find. It is so hard to find OE parts at any dealership for old Hondas, especially crxs. It pretty much impossible to find parts for the 86. I'll be searching junkyards this spring for parts. If you know any good places let me know since we are in the same area. Maybe one day this spring we can get a few of the local fit guys together.

Snow day turns into a Great shop day!!

It snowed like crazy last night into this morning. The roads has 4-6" on them! For around here that's shut down everything day! Everything but my garage, lol.
It was a brisk 20 degrees outside and the garage was 64 inside. (2 oil radiator type heaters)
Well it was an exceptional day for the Civic.
Installed the clutch inspection plate and painted the cross member while I was down there on my back. :D
Next was the Viper wiring and assorted other wires to get pulled up into place under the dash.
Then was the D.S.carpet and kick plate and the little trim box that goes over the hatch/gas cover releases. Which in this Civic only the hatch lever is left, there is a cool Sparco round flush mount aviation type cap there now.
I guess when the dash was taken apart the coin box's 2 upper anchor points where deemed unnecessary and cut out of the dash housing??! So with a little piece of sheet metal and 3 hours it's back in nice and square in the opening. That was fun for me!
In between sprayed the H on the hatch satin black, but have a new chrome one coming in from Griffith Motor Parts/ Honda so I'll see which looks the best.:).:)

How do you spell fun?

The scissor doors are bloody cool man. These are indeed the highlight of your ride. I guess the rest of the stuff is great as well.

Thank for the kind words rylees :)

Installed the PS dash vent. Prepped, primed and painted the side mirrors satin black.
The paint was from a seller on eBay and I was wanting to see how it would look dry> (80% paint 20% reducer). Beats the trim paints I have used in the past, closest to OEM finish I've seen yet so it's a keeper. If anyone is in need of a good quality trim paint I have his info.

Perrenoud Fit 02-04-2014 07:15 PM

Installed the side mirrors last night. They look LN nothing to pick out but it's one of those things that make an overall difference.
Received the center vent and will install @ a later date :)

That car is going to be a very nice cruiser. I wish they still made a version of the B16. It would be the most popular motor out there. I know the K series is similar but the B16 has the best of both worlds mpg and power.

Mike, when you show the car at a car show, put the model on the engine, or dash board. I've been at car shows where people do that, and it's an attention getter, especially when it looks like the real thing. Listen, if you get snow bound, you can always do new doors on the model........ :-)
