Civic Type-R - Confirmed for US Market

Announced during Hondas press conference for the current Civic release

Executive Remarks from the 2015 New York Auto Show Honda Press Conference - Honda.com

"We agree that the Civic line up is not complete without the Type-R, as a true race-bred compact car and the performance flag bearer for the Civic brand. So, with your strong support, stay tuned, as we'll have more information on this in the coming year"

I'll trade in if it's not hideous and there's a decent amount of space in the back and the price is not outrageous.

Not a big fan of boost but I wouldn't mess with the motor at all, so as long as it's not laggy i'm okay with it.

I am so exsited about this! I was going to save and pick up a 2015 Fit around October. I will make a Type R mine, if that means running this truck for one more year so be it.

We're probably 2 years away from the release, I don't know if I need another sports car but you never know :)

I'm guessing pricing should be in the mid-30's, might even be more if there is a ton of interest at the dealers

I am hearing rumors we are more like 2 years away, can you wait that long?

No thanks.

Too heavy, and a lack of effort in a lot of places.

Thanks to the continued freefall from Honda's historic values, the GE is likely the newest Honda I'll ever own.

I would be okay with that.

Then again I can get much faster cars for the same price, but I don't know how well they turn and I'm pretty sure they get much worse gas mileage.

i feel like mid 30 isn't competitive enough. an Evo is mid 30s and its Faster, All wheel drive and all around more beast than this car. i would be comfortable at around 27 28 considering an si is around 22

Was reading a bit more about it's competition.

Golf R 0-60 4.9 seconds
Ford Focus RS (AWD) 315hp and 0-60 4.5 seconds
Subaru STi (AWD) 0-60 5 seconds

And they all are good in the twisties. I'm a subaru guy at heart since I've had great experiences with them. Still, that Ford Focus RS looks like a killer.

You're right WAIZ and I'm working on it. Mine was kind of a stupid comment anyway because if it's a 5 door what's the point of a fit type r. I always figured the fit took the place of the civic hatch anyway.

Don?t Hold Your Breath for the Civic Type R » AutoGuide.com News Looks like it could be up to three years before the type R comes to the states, when was the Focus RS coming here?

^^According to that article, next year. AWD, 0-60 in
well under 5 seconds, well in excess” of 315 horsepower. Holy smokes!

3 years sounds realistic

Focus RS will probably have some type of excessive dealer markup, car will be a beast though

I am sure the type R will have the same stupid mark up. Im a honda guy, but that RS seems very tempting. A few months ago I was looking at picking up the Fiesta ST. I am just kind of Meh on Ford. An AWD, 315hp car that should be under 40K, well that just sounds like a blast

What about current generation Sti for you?

I personally don't like the fit & finish of the current Focus so I would lean towards a Type-R or Sti if I was in that market.
