I have been waiting to do this mod for two years. Shout out to Seamus who owns Tailored Chassis Solutions for getting me these plates, plus sending me templates in advance to ensure it was possible to do this install on 3G... Pics below... I have not driven her yet. I can see I need to set camber on the shock/a-arm as I forgot the BC racing coilovers have play on the top bolt hole. Right now the left is sticking out pretty far and the right looks like it has a ton of negative camber. I set them in the middle, and if my math checks, the radius to where the shock tower is, from the center of the rim is 19". At middle adjustment, moving the top of the shock one inch in, and one inch back is probably giving me 3-4 degrees of camber and caster. Full throttle, I think I could get 6-8 degrees of each, a considerable advantage for tracking the fit... I wouldn't have been able to do this without watching revhappymatt do it first, so one more shout out to him as well... Cheers, Z062FIT I removed these two fasteners. They broke apart, standard. Order some off Amazon if you don't already have them, they're like 8 bucks for a bunch of honda fasteners and a tool. I removed the wipers, they took a little coaxing. *NOT NECESSARY* Here you can see how I used a screw driver to crack my winshield. This piece that covers the wipers DOES NOT NEED TO BE REMOVED. Ask me how I know... I just used some wire ties and yanked the hell out of this side. It cracked a little bit, be careful. I also cracked this side. You take off the lid to the brake fluid reservoir, then you can pull the plastic divider over and replace your cap to rest it on top. Makes for plenty of room... I spent 3 hours looking for these. Disassemble your coilovers. I left the brakes assembled, did not need to touch them. All that yellow is about to get cut off... Front of the car is to the left where you see the line. I used the above setup to hold the template while I marked the holes. Holes are marked. I drilled, advancing from 1/8", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2". The half inchers got stuck and it was a pain in the ass. I think I needed special drill bits for sheet metal, but I miracled it to the finish regardless... I used a cutoff wheel on my air compressor tool. It was weak and took forever. Shoulders killed... On the driver's side I used the Harbor Freight super torquey grinder I use for porting. That thing is scary... I'd say there's no going back on this car at this point. Here's a first fitment. This side was pretty easy. Driver's not so much... I had some paint around, so hit the bottom where I was sloppy with the cutoff wheel... This side was not cool... You can see where I am making room, this was one of quite a few tools, hammers, punches, and chisels. Not a mod for the faint of heart. What's down there???
Thank God for this lift!!! Here is my coilover as it was in the car, complete with factory cutout in the stack above... OK. Basically, I had to cut off some of the bracket for the wiper motor and bend the rest of it back. Caster Camber Plates > Wipers because #racecar, but I think they'll be fine too. I got some Honda touch up paint. for the edges and where I was pounding, cutting, smashing... Mixed in with some of the blue (from below) accidentally on the driver's side... Another angle. Another angle Passenger side looks dreamy easy lol. I had to pound out that bracket to the left of the left-most bolt... Another angle Another angle Tower from below... Another Another Another
Here is the difference. The coilover stack on the left is the new bits as they will be attached to the plate with 4 allen bolts per side. There are six bolt holes to provide even more adjustability for the four allen bolts... First one in there Another Another And up top, with the BC Racing 30-way adjuster knob installed. Again Again Driver's side after I repainted the mess... With adjuster... Another view Driver's side from below Another. View of both plates and shock towers. Button her back up. Peek-a-boo! Like nothing ever happened...
