Fit 1/4 Mile Times
#21
Well Like I said, this would be our event: Wednesday Night Drags | Raceway Info | Sonoma Raceway
I want to get 4-5 Fit's and friends from our Nor Cal HellaFit Crew out there maybe in April.
I'll run my light "skinny" 15x6.5 with 205's in the rear and the FAT 225 on 15x8's up front with maybe cold psi in the mid 20's. Rev launch and full throttle with no missed shifts... I will most certainly take video and post results

I agree im not pushing it that much and its totally possible. There is a fit here making 115 na and is planning on getting hondata. Is hoping for around what i have. My tune is a safe tune been running on it for 3 years. Dynoed it the other day and it made same power. 3 years and didnt lose power. I like that.

I know there are many things that affect times but here is what I don't understand.I know mph is a pretty good indicator of hp and 13Fit is running the same 85mph as Previc who has a Turbo and 131hp.
Is it that Previc had a better 60ft and hooked up to run nearly a full second quicker ET?
heck maybe 13Fit got a ringer with 130hp lol

My car is ragged out. IE the front is lower then the rear. I noticed a decent improvement on the highway as far as driving stability, and able to stay in 5th going up a rather large hill we have on the interstate.
Eventually I will attain coilovers that allow me to lower the front even more and the rear only a bit more

Yep thats it I come from the Mustang world and at the drags that 60ft was the key to good ET's
I'm use to seeing 1.7 60ft on street tires and 1.5X on slicks but this is a dedicated race set up with drag springs etc.
The Fit is a whole different game and I'm sure if you were to set it up for drag racing it would perform just as well.

I kinda of like a little forward rake.I have it with my Swifts and I'm a old school drag racer that always had my cars sit this way.
I know it's fwd and will not help with weight tranfer like my rwd cars but I like the look

Has anyone tried running a smaller diameter and lighter wheel/tire combo up front, to raise the final drive a tad and reduce weight?
I have hx wheels (11.75 lbs) that will hopefully be going on this summer and for my daily driving tires (don't want seperate $$$ race tires) was thinking about getting a set of the following tires, taking into consideration weight, price, ride height, grip, longevity:
185 60R14 tires:
Ohtsu FP7000 16 lbs
Nexen CP672 14 lbs
Falken Ziex ZE-912 17 lbs
General Altimax HP 16 lbs
or even smaller 185 55R14 tires:
marshal matrac xm kh35 17 lbs
yokohama s. drive 17 lbs
So far I haven't found tires any smaller than the above for a 14" wheel.
As you can see, the more performance oriented tires are the heaviest.
Using this tire size comparison Tire Size Calculator - Compare Tire Sizes one can see that my stock 195 55R15 diameter is 23.44".
Using 185 60R14 tires the diameter would be 22.74" and the car would sit 0.35" lower. It would increase RPM by 3.1% and make the speedometer faster by that amount.
Using 185 55R14 tires the diameter would be 22.01" and the car would sit 0.7125" lower. It would increase RPM by 6.5% and make the speedometer faster by that amount.
I haven't lowered the car yet but do plan on it but I think this idea would be feasible for a daily driver. The gearing and ride height wouldn't change the car drastically off the track, but would give a small edge in 1/4 mile times would it not? May need to stick with a smaller drop lowering spring in order to keep the bottom of the car safe.
I got this idea here where he was using very small diameter 175/50/13 tires on VX wheels: Just Picked up a Set of VX Wheels...(Gearing Tech Included) - Page 3 - Honda-Tech
Summary: "ran once with the 15" pirellis (16.4 w/ 2.4 60ft)...with the 13" sumis, I immediately dropped 3 tenths (16.1 w/ 2.3 60ft) and eventually got my best run in with them (15.9 w/ 2.2 60ft)."
Unfortunately, those tires are no longer made and I have yet to find out if VX wheels will fit my GD breaks.

when I was fully stock, I was running third gear out, and just as the rev limiter was about to kick on, I pasted the line.
With all the mods, I am in 4th for less then 2 seconds before passing the line. Sometimes I simply leave it in third and bounce once or twice off the rev limiter and my times are within .07 or so.
This motor needs a torque boost right around 4200 rpm. and some extra breathing right around 5k rpm to help pull through third better
