AutoX wheel/tire opinions
So I have some Civic 15" wheels (no tires) and the 16" HFP wheels with 205/45/16 all-season tires (General G-Max03) right now and have autocrossed twice. My question is should I get good tires for autoX for the 15" Civic wheels or the 16" HFP wheels. I want to keep running street as well, but would plan on just using one set for daily and one for autoX. If the 15" and autoX would you go with 205/50 or 195/55? Any and all help appreciated.

Reallt depends how "serious" your local AutoX Folks are...
The HFP's are HEAVY, but +1 inch from "OEM" and same +55 offset which makes them class legal. Also, less options in "good" 200tw tires in 16"
For the civic wheels... are they within +/-6mm offset of the +55? Are they the same width as Sport alloys? If so GREAT! If not.... technically not class legal. I'd for sure do 195/50 for better accel/gearing on a "street" class car also, shorter side wallhelps with less deflection or roll over if you pump up the psi!

So far they haven't been really too picky as my CAI should bump me out of H street as well, from what I've heard. From what I can tell the Civic wheels are anywhere from 38-48 offset, so that could be an issue down the road. So, you'd go with 195/50 over the 195/55 standard size? Just wondering about more rubber with the 205/50 vs 195...

Thing is, without around at least a 7" wide wheel, the 205 is a bit "stuffed" onto the wheel and won't perform as well. Plus the 195/50 will be a lighter tire which also helps!
Actually, your short shifter and your intake move you to STF!

Thanks, all makes sense...saw the CAI bit, missed the short shifter part...probably would have issues with the throttle controller too...lol...I'll worry about legalities when, a: I'm forced to and/or b: I actually get a bit better. Giving up all the hp to the Mazda 3's is a tough hill to climb...but a fun one nonetheless...

The Generals are good on the street, but I would say nearly useless for autoX as they appear to be a bit on the fragile side -- fronts missing chunks on the outside edge after 5 runs... had 40lbs in front 35lbs in rears.

If you'll willing to pocket for good AutoX tires why not go for so e decent tires as well? That way your all setup for the track and STF.
Since you're technically STF due to the SS and CAI just stock with that class. I wouldn't worry about your competition. Just worry about approving your driving. That's what I've been doing this year as my first year in AutoX as well. I have some fast guys in my part of town.
