FS 2009 Sport Auto w/ Nav, 85k miles, needs work (Philadelphia, PA)
Hi fellow Fitfreaks!
Trying to gauge interest - looking to sell my 2009 Fit Sport Auto with Nav (so it has VSA) about 85k miles, located in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA for $4000, I'm negotiable.
I got in a bit over my head with some recent work I did to my Fit, and I wanted to see if anybody with more mechanical sense than me would want to buy it and get it running again.
Long story short, I did a valve adjustment but didn't tighten one of the lock nuts all the way. Took off the rocker assembly, found the nut, but then over-torqued the bolts for the rocker assembly and broke them ofd (5 of them). I'm fairly confident someone could use a bolt/screw extractor kit to get the screws out, but I realize I'm at the point where I could really mess things up.
The car was throwing a misfire code for cylinder 3, but in hindsight, I think it was really just due to a loose spark plug, as it was loose when I took it out. I have a whole new set of spark plugs and coils. Just thought I might as well do a valve adjustment while I was in there... otherwise it was running fine.
More about the car! I am the original owner. I recently replaced the tires a year ago with new Michelins (probably less than 5k on them). Always used synthetic oil. Engine ran fine, transmission shifts well. Car is in good condition, with the exception of a small area on the driver's side where the top layer of paint came off. Car was in a single accident (hit a deer) when it was only a year old which resulted in about a $5k repair bill at the time, but no major systems needed to be replaced. Interior is in good condition.
Why am I selling if it should be a pretty simple fix? Honestly while I love the Fit, I'm looking to get a new car anyway due to some changes in life circumstances. I also don't have a mechanic I trust to take it to - the guy my family's been using for decades retired.
Pictures of the Fit will be up later today!
