how are these compared ot the likes of t1r or skunk2?

 

I don't have any personal experience with KW or Skunk2, but Sport Compact Car had an article a few months ago in the June issue, a pretty big suspension shoot out. Although they used S2000's as the test cars, I think it still gives an okay indication of what to expect from each company's coilovers. Though T1R and Skunk2 coils weren't in the shootout, I don't think coilovers from both of those companies are on the same levels as the ones that were tested (not saying that T1R / Skunk2 coils are bad though).

Just a short recap, they had a stock AP1, AP2, CR, and S2000's with the following coils: Buddy Club, J's, JIC, KW, Moton, Ohlins, Spoon, Tein. Though there were a bunch of flaws with the test (cars weren't just stock with coilovers, some were pretty stock with minor bolt ons to the Spoon one with full aero etc.), thus Spoon's was the fastest around the track, but iirc, KW was one of their favourites in terms of ride quality on the street as well as performance on the track - the KW's have a good balance between comfort and performance.
