well, forgive me if i'm wrong, but it doesn't look like it was a front or side-impact collision. so what use would it have been?

 

well looks like a pretty hard impact, so i would think that if you got hit hard from the back you as a passenger would be jolted forward toward the dash so maybe a airbag would possible protect you from impacting the dash or steering wheel.

 

i agree that the people in the car would be tossed back toward the front after the initial impact, but i am pretty sure airbags were designed for initial impacts. anyway, there are a lot of factors and sensors that determine whether or not an airbag should deploy. so unless someone is severely injured BECAUSE an airbag failed to deploy, the system has probably acted correctly. i could be wrong..

 

yeah im not really sure either about the system it self, i just figured that they would have deployed
