Australian Honda Jazz

A couple of people have asked for pics of the Australian Market MY09 Jazz for comparisons with the USDM ones. This is my new Honda Jazz VTi. The colour is Cerulean Blue, which I think is only available on Thai built cars. It's one of siz colours available here, including Helios yellow pearl, Rallye red, Crystal black pearl, Alabaster silver metallic and Taffeta white.

The only accessories I have are the side strips (stops those shopping trolley dents) and the mats.

You can see the side strips actually integrate pretty well, and while probably not to everyone's taste, they work better thaan I expected. The dealer sprays them to match when they are fitted.

The mats also come with a little centre mat in the back that covers that hump that mats usually expose - a nice detail.

Mechanically it is the same as the USDM ones except of course RHD, and we get rear disc brakes and JDM bumpers and lights. (not LED though)



Yeah, steelies and plastic covers. I couldn't convince the Minister for Finance(my wife) that alloys were essential. At least the plastic covers are held on by the wheel nuts, so it's not so easy to steal them or lose them in a pothole.

Inside, the VTi gets the steering wheel audio controls and a fancier trip computer that in addition to instantaneous and average fuel consumption, tells you distance to empty, journey elapsed time, average speed and whether your back seat passengers have their seatbelts fastened:



Having a passenger with a seatbelt unfastened is a big fine and points off your licence here in NSW.

The engine is the L15A i-VTEC same as USDM.





We also get a proper full size spare wheel:


And the same boot space with a cover as standard:


Interior trim has these bluish panels with some kind of textured wetsuit material:


The VTi is the middle spec model. We also get GLi with 1.3l engine, and VTi-S with 16" alloys, cruise control, black/grey interior (rather than black/blue) and body kit.

why is there a big gap between the shift knob and the shift boot?

interesting, your intake manifold chamber has silver lettering.



compared to the USDM all black.

I don't know, really. It came like that. Must say it's a detail I'm not so keen on. The top of the boot has this plastic ring that looks like it's meant to slide up and down.

Difference in priorities between Japanese manufacture and Thai manufacture perhaps? It would be interesting to see if the other specs are the same. Theoretically they are, but I think US smog laws and Australian smog laws are still different, so you never know.

Do you mean RHD? Cuz there aren't any Fits that are RWD.

What's that to the left of the manifold at the front, just above the alternator with the green cap on it? Not present in mine.

Thats the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve. Its an emissions thing for the US.

Surprising that the Australian models don't have EGR when so many other cars here do. It has benefits aside from emissions for part throttle economy due to improved cylinder filling.
