winter black steel wheels
My wife likes her new winter tires, but is still adjusting to the black wheels. If you bolt on steel wheels in the winter do you leave them black or buy some affordable hubcaps?

leave them black. i like the dedicated look. sure it looks like a poorfolk junk car to normal folks who dont know anything about cars, but to us car folks, we know why we do it. and u are respected for being a responsible driver for da safety of u and others around u.

I don't mind the look of uncapped black steels when running dedicated snow tires, but I do not like bare steels for regular tires, if that makes any sense, looks cheap. Don't need snow tires where I live, so I run cheap charcoal colored wheel covers on our black LX that have relatively small slots/holes in them, so ya can't really see the black steel wheels beneath.
I hated the factory wheel covers....

The good news is, sets of plastic hubcaps are available from Wal-Mart for less than $25 USD in various styles & colors.
The bad news is, these hubcaps will soon fall off as their grippers weaken, leaving you with the original 'steelie' look!

Educate me, one from no snow location. The wheels are black, so are you suggesting you should leave the OEM hub caps off during the winter months? Others suggest buying some cheapos instead of using OEM hubcaps to cover up the black wheels during winter months? Happy winter solstice. The end of winter is in sight.

My EX has 16" wheels and my winter wheels are 14". The LX wheels are 15". If my generic steel wheels had the same shape and valve stem location as old 14" Honda Civic wheels I was hoping to get some of those hubcaps. They have the advantage that the lug nuts hold the hubcap in place instead of the rim grippers. A quick glance revealed that my valve stems appear to be randomly located. I believe the Civic hubcaps have the valve stem aligned radially with one of the lug nuts.

Besides, I despise the look of cheap plastic or tin wheel covers.
