I already talked to the Mods and they cant do anything with the spammer till they can get a hold of Admin. Apparently none of them have been on lately. Yea if we left that thing going it would be at 2k real quick. haha

^Are you serious?!?! WHY???

They really should allow some of the Mods to do something about it.

Illusive would be the only Mod that may have some kind of power to delete or ban members but i dont honestly know what power the other ones have. Ray is the one that told me that Admin needed to come on and fix it so im just guessing on everything else. Yea it makes no sense to me either.

i feel kind of abandoned.
we used to give feedback and get results.
now spammers start to take over the site and no one in charge even cares to login and do their job!

this website would be better if all the regulars ran it.

Yea your telling me. I think that the Mods should have more power if Admin isnt hanging around like they used to. That crazy spammer almost got 200 posts before it was taken care of. Thats out of control

^Isn't that the point of a mod....??

So what do the mods really have access to do on this site? I've been a mod on other forums and had access to ban members, etc.

I honestly dont know. Im just going off what Ray told me about needing Admin to get rid of the spammer. I would guess that they should be able to ban members but they prob need approval from Admin if i had to guess. I will have to ask one of the Mods for more clarification.

i think mods have power over the threads and not the members. mods move and lock threads. they can only report misuse to an admin. i think they do that so no mods go crazy and start banning people left and right. thing is, i trust all the mods on fit freak to not go on a banning spree. they should have more power. or at least the power to put a 24 hour ban on someone.

Sorry guys. I was super busy with the car show this last weekend and wasn't at my computer until yesterday afternoon to address the situation. I've recommended the promotion of a few members to Mod status and some mods to Super Mod status so we can keep an eye on things more readily, but nothing has been done yet.

Again, my apologies to everyone on the forum who was affected by the spammers.

Exactly what Kelmar said. Its not your fault Illusive we were just worried cause it seemed like Admin were the only ones that could fix it and werent being active enough in the site to help. Thanks for also giving us the heads up that the problem is being fixed and was addressed. Now to the big question, I wonder who is getting promoted?

That's just asinine! I mod for a large Home Audio/Video website and all mods have the power to ban and delete/edit posts. The whole reason behind moderators are so our small (three people) admin section can do their jobs and write articles. They take careful consideration in selecting each mod as there are only 7-8 of us but quaility over quantity, right? We've never had an issue with a moderator on a power trip.

If you can't trust the mods you hand pick with anything besides moving/closing threads......what's the point of even having them?

Sorry for the rant, just noticed the spam is pretty bad here, right now there is a spammer on the loose in the Skunk section that I've reported......he's up to 23 posts as of now.

...and to the regular forum members. Use the "report post" triangle to report spam, it really helps in high traffic forums as it's impossible for mods to check each and every post.

We are aware of the spammer in the skunk2 section. Unfortunately only one of the mods can fix that. Admins have not been on the site for awhile so it is hard for some of us to take care of those spammers since we dont have full power over the full forum. Wheres Illusive when we need him? lol We will take care of it shortly tho guys.
