It's just a name, to be honest...I don't think anybody should care whether it's "official" or "unofficial" as long as the info inside is legit.

Yeah it is full of spam too, what a joke if that is why they pulled out "official" status

All the text is gone from my banner now! It just says FitFreak.Net... and the sponsor side is blank Maybe my work firewall is blocking things or something

I don't think any of us ever thought FitFreak was really "official", anyway. That would be a stretch.

I think it is because this site has gotten big enough that Honda has taken notice, and they probably don't want anything to do with us (the whole "The ideas on this website may not be that of Honda blah blah"), legally anyways.

Honda Contacted IB and threatened legal matters if this site didn't say UNofficial.

vBulletin is just the software the board uses, nothing to do with ownership.

Pretty common for manufacturers to strong arm forums as Honda and Fit are heavily trademarked. My Yamaha snowmobile forum, the name anyway is owned by Yamaha, the owner had to sign it over or change the name of the forum.
Wasn't a big deal though as it didn't change anything. The owner still owns the forum (except for the name) and he still gets all the ad revenue.
And Yamaha has never tinkered with the content except for once when a thread was downright dangerous (which it was)

Honda may not have messed with that new start-up forum, as they arent big on anybodies radar screen but they will be because they use 'Honda Fit' in the name.

Can we just chuck the "Honda Fit Forums" all together and just call it FitFreak instead? I think people can put the picture of the Honda Fit and the name Fit Freak together well enough to understand it is a Honda Fit Forum.

Or maybe a new politically correct slogan?

"Unofficial Honda Fit Forum" just sounds really lame, we might as well just replace it with "Not affiliated with Honda" instead.

I am glad that we got an answer. I noticed the change and at the time there were no post on it. I hopped we could get to the bottom of it. IMHO there should be another thread about a possible new name as mentioned above.

as much as we pump up honda here, you'd think they'd leave us alone. Hopefully they read the "tell honda" section

If Fit Freak were really "official" we'd be saying goodbye to all sorts of useful information on this site. They'd probably start removing DIY threads that void your warranty! And say goodbye to all those threads about pirating electronic service manuals.
