probably not the best question, but how big of an effect did it have on your gas mileage?

I always wonder why people ask this question about turbo retrofitting, the only time your fuel economy would be changed after adding a turbo to your car would be:

1.) Your Driving habits have changed now that you have more power

2.) You spend a lot of time in boost

or

3.) Turbine housing and wheel are so frickin' small that just looking at the gas pedal takes up vacuum and builds positive MAP

The cam is the same, the head is the same, displacement has not changed, the out of boost tune should be untouched and you now have a gauge you can watch to keep yourself in vacuum and get comparable or better mileage than before if you care to.

This is not intended to come off as rude FWIW.

What turbo is this kit using?

Not offended at all, and appreciate the breakdown.

And I'm surely interested. any chance of a test drive?

+1 and free bump for an awesome owner and car. Saw it in person back at the big LA meet a few months back. GLWS. I had an '83 Ranger with a combined 8" lift and front straight axle conversion on 37" boggers. Playing in the mud is fun too

By "upgraded" wastegate.. did you mean a stronger actuator on the internal gate? or did you setup an external wastegate?

Where you planning on raising boost?

If it's got the turbine listed as .48A/R, I'm willing to bet this is a Garrett GT25/T25 flange style turbo, so probably pretty small. Good for response, not so much for top end.

@diamondstarmonsters I say upgraded cuz the one it came with was a cheap non name brand and bought a tial wastegate and I was planning on running more boost..

@gimme I got it tuned at church automotive the first time I went they charged $400 cuz they installed the AEM fic but they charge $200 an hour to tune but they don't take more than an hour,,
