I had a Smart Start put in a few years ago and had intermittent issues with the radio turning off and the anti theft light (on the radio unit) blinking while I was driving down the road. It is not consistent with any certain configurations or driving situations. Sometimes it happens right away when the car starts (the screen just stays off), sometimes it happens driving down the highway, sometimes the radio comes on again, sometimes it stays off for many minutes (15+).

This got kind of annoying and at the time I had an aftermarket stereo in. I decided to remove the aftermarket stereo, go back to stock, and pull all the modules for the Smart Start out. It worked great for a few days, and still does it with no remote start modules, and the stock stereo in the car.

I notice in the wiring diagrams that there is a wire coming out of the SCU for the audio unit but can't find out exactly what that wire is feeding to the radio. Is there a way to trick the radio into thinking it is getting whatever sense is coming across that wire so it can never cut out like that while driving?

Anyone else ever seen this issue? Ideas where to look, what to look for?
