Just did the H-Fit SS mod this morning.
Some observations...
- To remove the clip from cable A, I clamped the middle of the clip with a vise-grip and pulled it up and out... You need to clamp right in the middle where there is a gap in the shifter base assembly or otherwise you're pulling on the plastic base too. Just feel behind the top of the clip and you'll see there's a gap where you can clamp just the clip. It came out very easily.
- The teflon cup was hard to remove from the shifter ball and went on the H-Fit ball very snug. It was very hard to move on the aftermarket ball joint even when extra lithium grease was applied. However, with the leverage of the shifter, the friction seems not to be a problem.
- It's really easy to break the parking brake cable cover (Honda part # 83442-SAA). I also broke the little clips holding the main shifter cover. These are the first two clips you're supposed to remove. Anyone know the part# for them?
- Make sure the 12 mm bolts are tight after re-assembly! Otherwise shift will feel loose and light.
- Shifter does feel shorter and notchier. Maybe this would improve more if combined with a weighted shift knob.
