Thule roof rack on an '09?

Has anyone installed a Thule roof rack on a 2009 Fit? If so, did you use the fit kit that they recommend for the 2007/2008 Fit? Thule hasn't specified which fit kit to use for the '09's yet.

I'm interested in getting a Thule one also. I know Yakima already has a set out.

I bought the Thule system for my '07 Sport and it worked well. But the bolts for the clamps that hold the feet clamped to the edge of the roof were just exactly long enough to allow proper installation (I would have preferred them to be 1/2" or so longer for easier fit). The areas where these clamps will mount on my '09 Sport are larger, and this will require at least longer bolts, if not a different design of clamp system. So, I guess that we will have to wait for Thule to address the needs of the new Fits and list the appropriate rack system on their web site.

I have a Thule rack from my 08 Fit. I'll try to mount it on my 09 this weekend (if it isn't too nasty outside )and get back to you.

That'd be awesome, thanks. If it isn't a hassle, please take pictures of the installation as you do it.

Hey, I've had a ton of snow last few days and no garage. I'll try to get a pic of the fit kit over the door frame at least untill I can get the whole rack on.

Here is the front load bar with the Thule fit piece around the door frame. Same fit as on the 08. I just snapped a quick shot so you know it will work. I'll get it installed when it's not snowing and freezing out.

Thanks for the good news, and for the effort you made in the cold. I wonder how long it will be before Thule finds this out and puts the info. on their fitment charts.

That's really cool. Thanks again for all of the effort. Be sure to update us on the rack install when the weather breaks.

Here's the response from Thule:

"We do not have a fit kit yet for the '09 Honda Fit. For '09 the roof line changed, and any other year fit kit will not work on it. We are still testing to find a kit that will fit on the '09. I would suggest that you call our customer service line at 1-800-561-0716 in about 1 1/2 month to see if we have a fit."

So according to Thule, it's a no-go on the 2007/2008 kit. Maybe they'll have something official by March?

Don't know if they export, but worth noting that ROLA Roof Racks have a fitment for the '09 Jazz now. If they will ship them overseas, you should get a good deal now that the South Pacific Peso is down against the greenback again.

Worth asking anyway. Their online price for the rack is A$309 and the carrier is A$163 if you get the one where you remove the front wheel (otherwise A$199)

Have you had the chance to do a full installation of the rack? Did it work?

thanks!

I am betting that the front feet may fit, but the back ones probably won't. I was looking closely at some GD3's parked close to my GE at a Fit meet last weekend, and that's the reason for my first statement. The length of bolts on the GD3 model are so close to being "too short", I don't think that the rear clamps will have enough bolt length to grab on the GE's.
