Hey guys just some FYI, the key it self has a chip that needs to be programmed to the car in order for the key to start the car. The remote can be programmed by yourself if you follow the steps listed in this thread.

I also purchased the keyless button fob from CFL (which is smaller), and this my wife uses on her key ring along with her Base key.
I just didn't see any reason to get any key chips re-programmed, as I prefer having the smaller Base key for the ignition and having a separate button gadget for keyless entry anyway.
(It's also cheaper that way too, although that really wasn't my main consideration...)

I just got my key cut and the immobiliser chip programmed this morning.
Works wonderfully, and I'm overjoyed to have keyless again.
Interestingly, when I brought the car in the tech did ask me where I'd gotten the key, since he wanted to "make sure I had the right one because they are all different".
Well, that's not *exactly* true because according to College Hills both the Fit Sport key with integrated fob and one of the keys for the CR-V can be cut and programmed to work in a Fit Base.
All I said - out loud - to him was that on my receipt the part number was a key for a Honda Fit. He accepted that explanation and everything was fine, but I guess I just didn't want to "out" everyone that is trying to do this less expensively.
Like someone else had mentioned, dealers could attract some business if they offered this service as a 'deal' on the QT but I guess maybe they are hoping that the bulk of the customers would be none the wiser and would just pay whatever is asked when they buy the car if they want it.
Eh, still saved me some money over purchasing the "keyless entry option"...now if only the glovebox USB self-install were just as easy.

I got the fob from the mail tonight. Got the silicone cover yesterday. Sat in the fit for less than 15 seconds, the car instantly upgraded with keyless entry. I'm amazed how easy it really was.
Thank you Dan for the key fob. Wonderful doing business with you.

72147-swa-a01
I bought 72147-SWA-A01 from cflhonda.com. It works fine, but it looks like it is missing the case. I had to drill a hole to be able to add it to my keychain and I also had to glue it together so it wouldnt come appart so easily (hopefully the battery will last for a while because I won't be able to replace it).

I decided to buy a key case off Ebay:
HONDA REMOTE KEY REPLACEMENT CASE 3button+panic (HONDA REMOTE KEY REPLACEMENT CASE 3button+panic : eBay Motors (item 140376843815 end time Feb-21-10 15:39:53 PST))
even if the FOB only has 2 buttons + panic... it looks like it's going to fit.

I plan on adding keyless entry to my 2010 Base Fit. I plan on ordering 72147SWAA01 from Dan. I understand this is just the fob. Do I use my current keys to program the fob for keyless entry? How does this work since I do not need another key and just want the fob. Thanks in advance.

Wanted to note that purchasing the key (College Hills) was more complicated than "synchronizing" it with the car. Add in 3 minutes with a Dremel, and voila! GREAT GREAT GREAT FIX, thank you guys so much! $40 compared to the ~$300 the dealer wanted. (And I remember him saying "might as well go for the remote starter at that point....only an extra $200"). Can't believe those guys....
