More likely because we have some ethanol in our fuel. In two past cross country trips (other cars, not Fit), I noticed big differences in mileage by state. Worst were corn producing states like Iowa and Nebraska, best were states at altitude like CO.

I normally fill up around 350 miles +/- 30. Best range was 403 miles and 9.7 gallons.

I get under 300. Not surprising considering most trips are short, to and from the grocery stores. I swear more gas is used getting in and out of the parking lot than is used getting to and from the store.

There are a couple of extremely poorly laid out parking lots at two of the nearby stores, making for bottlenecks going in and coming out.

Best times to go are at the crack of dawn or just before midnight. It's that bad.

I forgot to reset the damn trip mileage last time, so I reset it at 1/2 tank marker- on the nose. I got 280 miles out of that 1/2 tank. That's pretty freakin good right there, as most all of my driving is city. It's only a guess I know, but considering my first 1/2 tank was about the same miles driven, I'm quite sure I clocked in well over 400 miles on the full tank.

That's a lot of miles out of the equivalent of about two red 5 gallon gas cans!

This tank I'll know for sure and post back.

Dan

sjb is an unknown quantity at this point
Just finished my first road trip with the new Fit. Mileage varied from 38 to 42 mpg.
Freeway at 75-80 mph resulted in lower numbers, cruising at 65-70mph turned in the best mileage. Ran 384 miles on one tank and took 9.1 gallons to fill, interestingly, the low fuel warning light never came on. Does anyone know when it triggers?

The car rode well. I needed 4th gear to get up some of the "hills" north of Phoenix, but also hit 90mph hour in 4th gear (5600 rpm) when I need to pass cars.
