Honda has found the easy horsepower. Consider how much trouble it was to bump the horses from the GD to the GE.

Ok. so the Unorthodox light weight pulley set saves 3 lbs in weight. Does that reduce the amount of drag on the by an equal amount? IE, how much WHP does it effect?

I'm liking this estimation as I've got my PRM CAI waiting for install, and just paid for a set of 12 lb Velox PG-5 wheels which I should have next week.

Quickest? A little nitromethane in the gas tank. Alternately, remove weight from the car.
Practically speaking? Buy a different car.

Face it, the Fit is not a hot rod, nor will it ever be. Too bad, because it could be if Honda did an Si version. Anyhow, they aren't going to. It's a decent performing econo car. My wife calls it a mini-SUV because of all the room inside. A few hp isn't going to be noticeable. Be happy with the great car you have. Dress it up, but in the end, performance isn't going to be great with anything less than several thousand thrown at it. Then what do you have? A hopped up Fit that you can't sell---ever.

If Kraftwerks would make a kit for the GE that'd be the way to go. And you could still sell the car later. Their GD kits don't require any permanent modifications. It'd be a good way to nearly double the horsepower without adding much weight.

Quickest way to add power? Buy an Si. Just ain't gonna work with a Fit. (well, maybe The Donald could pay enough to get it done)

I enjoy the process of modding my fit. Everything I am doing to my fit can be taken off and parted out if I ever decide to sell, and I am keeping the OEM parts. I think modding hondas and (to a lesser extent, the fit) is somewhat of a culture... I could just buy a different car, equivalent to the hp of a modded fit for less money, but then I would miss the joy of modifications. DIY and learning along the way is just fun, for me at least.

I am sorry to hear so many sarcastic comments on this post/question of mine. Obviously we are not driving a Porshe(insert your car of choice) here but the entire site consists of mods to a perfectly driveable car. Is any of it necessary? I like to think so. We all like are cars and have different ideas/uses for them and I certainly appreciate that. Everytime I hear "buy a different car" I know someone has missed the point of my inquiry. If these comments are made simply to be humerous I will get off my soapbox.
Thanks again to everyone on this great site for so much useful stuff!!!!

Nothing sarcastice intended by me. It is just that the Fit's engine is not designed for a big power boost, (at least not at a reasonable cost) I wish Honda would make an Si version. I would be first in line to buy one.

Now an SI would be a cool idea. Honda, if you are listening. What do you think?

I'd love to see an SI version. Maybe the R18 from the Civic in it. 100lbs and 30hp increase. 195 Width tires on lighter 16" wheels, Rear Calipers and a stiffer sway bars. But...something would need to be done to balance out the already nose heavy FIT.

As for the sport... I still think that adding the Intake & Exhaust and getting lighter wheels will make a noticable difference... not turbo difference but noticable enough to be fun.

K20 would be way to nose heavy and would throw off the balance that the Si Badge in general brings with the car. That's why I recommended the R18. it's not too much heavier than the L15.

As mentioned its not a race car. To get any significant power increase you'd probably have to do some pretty crazy stuff. Even then a 30hp increase with the cost of 1000's of dollars (NA).

My best advice is to lose weight. While it won't give you ultimate HUGE power gains, it will make driving it so much nicer. As a rule of thumb anything that is "Non-sprung" mass (suspension, brakes, tires, rims) is equivalent 7:1. Lose one lb off the rim is equivalent to losing 7 lbs off the body.

Drop 5 lbs per rim, 20 lbs total = to about 140lbs off body. That is significant, VERY significant. As well as getting that rotating mass up to speed costs hp and while its not huge... these cars are small and every little bit helps.

-bix

p.s. 2.5s off of a cars 1/4 time is HUGE.
