Not even a month yet...

Sup everyone.

I just picked up this car for my wife less than a month ago. We love the way this fit drives. Unfortunately, some people don't know how to drive and this is how the fit sits at the moment...

As you can see, his license plate clearly stamped into my bumper.

And the thing that made me laugh...

The driver who hit me with a 2007 Toyota Tundra.

So now...I was thinkin about gettin a carbon fiber hatch. (Save some $$$ w/o having it painted) So, any of yall have or know of anyone who has a carbon fiber hatch? Do they even make a carbon fiber hatch? or should I just stick with oem? because you can never fail with fitment on oem.

I've been lurkin around this forum for quite some time and I'm glad to be part of the community now.

That looks kind of low for a Tundra, did he have it lowered? From VA I'd expect it to be raised up! (I'm from VA)

I'd stick with an OEM hatch.

Sorry to see your Fit got hit - I looked on the internet and they make a CF hatch for the 2006-2008 but I can't find any for the 2009 - keep looking if anyone has one it will be posted. Maybe contact a vendor that sells one for the 2006-2008 and see if they have them in the making.

Is it just me or do Fits seem to have a butt magnet for trucks? Wonder what the stats would look like. I was rear ended last week by a Nissan Frontier. Not his fault, he was nudged by an 18 wheeler. Thought the back would be caved in worse than yours; it wasn't even scratched. Enough force for things in the console (cd covers) to fly back. No way to know how fast of an impact, we were both moving.

I'd go with an OEM hatch. Also get compensated for value loss. Even if it's repaired 100% it'll show up in carfax as having an accident; that'll drop the value a grand or so...

Yeah, even the appraiser was surprised to see how low and clear it was stamped to the rear bumper. If it was a lifted truck...bye bye rear windshield. lol...

It's been a week already. The hatch won't lock so the light in the back is always on. 24/7. Each passing day........ But thanks man!

it's actually not strange at all that the impact to your car was low. if the driver of the truck hits the brakes prior to impact, the truck's nose dips down substantially. most rear-end accidents i've seen follow that same pattern. if the driver accelerates or doesn't even attempt to stop, then it's a whole different story.

Actually, it will lower the value by more than a grand. I had a 2008 Nissan Sentra apraised at my dealership on Saturday and it was only valued at $8,000. Guy owes $16,000 on it. In all honesty, once the Carfax is seen with an accident report everything becomes even more subjective than it really is and most dealerships wont give a lick to the value of the car then. Good luck when trade-in time comes. You'll have better luck selling it on your own. Just my 2 cents.

The reason the damage is lower than you would think for a tundra is because when he slammed on his brakes, in an attempt to avoid hitting you, it caused his front end to dive down which results in the lower than normal damage. If he never hit the brakes his bumper would have impacted you at higher point most likely..... Sorry doom didnt see you had just written the same thing. You should try to go to dent doctor and see if they can get that dent out. You would be amazed at what they can do. I was on I-95 a week after I had gotten my Fit and a golf ball sized rock came out of nowhere and dented my hood. They were able to work their magic for a mere $85.

Good point but I thought it was low just sitting there in the picture. Maybe it's just the angle.

The pictures aren't great, but from what I can see, your damage could be fixed by paint-less dent removal. Those PDR guys can do amazing things.
