Thumbs up Lancer Evo Shift Knob on Base Fit FTW.

Been searching for a new knob for the Fit. I like the look of the stock knob but not digging the feel especially the plastic on top.

Thought about doing a weighted knob and looked at a lot of different OEM Honda knobs and nothing really stood out. Saw these OEM Lancer Evo knobs on ebay for $24.99 ea. Looked like it would fit perfect but I wasn't sure. Figured I'd take a chance for 25 bucks.

Couldn't have hoped for a better Fit. The threads are slightly different but it threaded right on like a stock knob. It snugged up right before it bottomed out on the boot. Fit's better than the stock knob!

It also shortened the shifter by about an inch which actually makes a noticeable difference in the throw. Feels much more sporty now.

23 hours left on the auction if anybody wants one. Guy ships real fast. Just bought it on Fri and got here today.

..and compered to stock.

Didn't really plan on lowering the knob like this but it feels more natural and the shifts feel very precise and quick.

Looks nice but I shy away from lowering the knob height. Usually I try to raise it to get closer to the steering wheel but I can foresee some interference with the climate control knob on these cars.

Yeah I didn't think I would like it lower either (it's not a lot lower) but it feels great! The center of the ball is also centered on the shifter now which moves it back a bit.

The Honda knobs are 10mm with 1.50 thread pitch. Mitsubishis are 10mm with 1.25 threads. I figured since it was nylon it would work OK and I couldn't really tell it was different. Threaded right on like a stock knob.

EDIT: Bah just saw your post. Oh well. I'll leave it here for future reference.

Looks pretty good. Much more practical than replacing it with a metal item that'll just burn your palm every time you reach for a downshift.

I think Honda also makes a variation of that knob, for sale as an aftermarket item in Japan. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually you can get them from the usual US parts places - Honda Leather Shift Knob - M/T Fit - Bernardi Honda Parts and Accessories

I'm not sure how I feel about the blue stitching....nothing else in the car is blue....

You could just take a black Sharpie and color the stitches black if the blue color bothers you. I was going to do that, but decided that once installed in the car, it wasn't that noticeable or worth bothering with IMO. I still might someday when I'm bored.

FWIW, the Honda leather wrapped knob is much more comfortable to me than the stock Fit Sport knob. That knob never felt like it "Fit" my hand properly.

The leather feels much nicer. The stock knob doesn't look bad but doesn't have the best feel.

I was thinking about the accessory knob but saw this and thought I'd give it a try for $25.

It's very similar to that accessory knob. As far as I can tell the differences are the Evo knob is a bit shorter. I held the stock one next to it today and it's only about 1/2 inch shorter if that. You can get a good idea from the comparison pix above. It also sits back about 1/4-1/2 inch from where the stock ball part is. Evo knob has more of a baseball style stitch to it and black stitching.

Do you own a Fit? The secondary (or is it tertiary?) color on ALL of the fabric is blue. Not only do the gauges light up blue but so does the radio.

No, I don't own a Fit, I just hang out here because you guys are all so damn good-looking! LOL.

Yeah good point about the blue dash lights and fabric accents. I also noticed that the shift pattern de-bossed into the stock knob is blue.

I guess the blue isn't as out-of-left-field as I thought, but somehow the stitching seems out of place to me. Maybe I wouldn't notice it if it was in the car just like the the other blues never really jumped out at me.

Is the shift knob heavier then the stock knob? I would like to try out a heavier knob like of a stainless steel knob. But I live in a country where its hot every day of the year. So dont know if its a good idea to buy a stainless steel knob.

Btw my fit doesnt have anything blue at all. The gauges are orange and interior is all black. It has just one tiny little blue ring on the radios volume knob that lights up when its dark.

.
It's probably a little lighter than the stock knob. Not weighted at all.
