Hi all, I am currently living in Japan, and this past weekend my husband and I were able to test drive the new fit. It was an automatic CVT engine and it was fantastic. The test drive was actually quite short because it was snowing quite hard, but the ride was smooth and the steering felt great. I am not used to driving hatchbacks, so I was a little concerned about the blind spots in the back, but everyone tells me I will get used to it. Overall, I am quite impressed with the car, but I guess anything is better than our little honda today.
But everyone is baseing their opinions on the JDM model without knowing what will arrive on our shores.
When I saw the short stubby nose of the 2007 JDM Fit I didn't like it. Looked like a hair-lip. The extended NA model was much nicer and sleeker looking.

I sure hope so. Maybe I'm getting old , but I'm tired of driving manuals! The only reason I've stuck with them is because they usually get significantly better fuel economy.
The reason why I think Honda will go with the new CVT for the USDM Fit is that production capacity of their 5AT units are reaching capacity, especially with the continued very strong sales of the Civic sedan/coupe here in North America (the current Fit uses a 5AT unit very close to the unit found on the Civic).
The new Fit will be the car that finally replaces my trusty, but starting to age 1998 Honda Civic HX CVT coupe.
anyone know when we can expect this new redesigned fit in Canada??? and has anyone herd any numbers: mpg, HP, TQ, width, weight, trim levels, etc.
please pm thanks
This new Fit looks good and if it performs as good as the current one, it'll be a hot car definitely.
Don't forget the improvements mentioned for a better ride over bumps and what not, improved fuel effeiciency.
The second gen looks killer, can't wait to see it and take it for a spin.
Where's it being made?
This was posted a few pages ago, but if you read the improvements, I think the improvements speak for themselves. 2008 Honda Fit - Top Speed

09's.

just to update.. I have collected my -small car ~RS fit; impressed with the performance and the FC so far ...
Congrats on your new Fit! I used to think silver was a plain color for a car but the SSM on a Fit looks really nice. Do you have a navigation unit? Were you offered a Honda made spoiler for your car? Makes me wonder if the 2009 Fit will go spoilerless over here (US).

Thanks to everyone for the latest on the '09 Fit. If I don't Git-a-Fit I think I may have a throwdownrunawaytwofitsandabadspell. That thing makes my teeth sweat! Just 'gotta' sell the "E" which I really like, but the Fit is the way to go. phasfit
