2009 Fit

I just got home from a focus group for the new Fit at the Anahiem Convention Center and all I can say is damn. The new Fit is going to blow the current model away. Wish I brought my camera but they even made us give them our cell phones...very top secret. I don't think it's totally ready for production yet, no word when it's going to be released.

So what your saying is the current generation Fit will only be sold for 1 year in US? That seems odd.

Even more odd is the fact that the convention center doesn't have this listed as an event, and I can't find any automotive news on the subject. Not saying I don't believe you, but I need....wait, no, I don't believe you. Proof is in the pudding

I agree the new one looks soooo much better than the 07, why couldn't they wait a year and just release the new one.

The new model has a longer windshield giving it a much sleaker apearance from the side. A larger spoiler in the rear follows the contour of the roofline. The front end has a much more aggressive look. Larger 16" wheels will be on the sport model. As of now still no center console...

Honda want to sell all the left over Fit to North America (clearance) , so they can produce new generation Fit in Japan

There's been other pictures, or at least renderings, of the next Fit already. I don't know why it's so unbelievable.
I used to do this focus group thing but never got in for cars, just beer, insurance, and a restaurant.

I thought that is would be odd for them to sell the current Fit for only a year, but then would we have a rare car in the future?

Everything is still in the begining stages. It wasn't even a complete car, interior weren't even functionable. The interior and exteriors were two seperate displays. Like I said, believe what you want but the new Fit is coming soon.

Technically, the 07 Fit was released approx 6 months early, making it a 1.5 year cycle. Which is completely possible, seeing the age of the car. I could see the changes made.

My friend in Japan said he read news that the new Fit is supposed to debut in June of next year there, so I have no doubt the new one's coming. Will it come here next year though is debatable. Curious to find out.

A new Fit in '08 sounds good to me-- I remember the '63 Corvette had a split rear window, then for '64 they removed the divider, and the '63's became instant classics, so an '07 Fit could be a "rare" Fit eventally, with a high resale value.

Id say its certainly possible that he went to a focus group for the car (I did one for the Dodge Magnum a few years ago), however Id say very unlikely that Honda would sell the current spec Fit for only 1 model year.

it is not a new car...

Remember that it is actually a car at the end of it's cycle.
