To be honest, I kind of hope they replace the model soon so the 1st gen Fit in the United States is semi rare.

The Fit does not have beam rear axel, it has a torsion bem, and the suspension is actually semi independent.

Thanks! Honda is good about doing FMC every 4-5 years. It keeps things fresh... but if you like a design....

I hope the 08's will still be made in Japan. When will we find out some official information about the 08 models? I'm saving money and I won't have it all until around January 08. If the new ones won't be made in Japan then I will have to order an 07 and let it sit at the dealership for a few months, I guess.

I second what others were saying, bring on this "total redesign" for 08, it will just make the 07s that much more unique. And I am willing to bet if they do redesign it, it will be made in the good ole US and A...and suck

I highly doubt it. If you look at the April 07' issue of Consumer Reports magazine you'll see that the 06' Accord (which is made in America) has slightly better repair records than the Japanese built 07' Fit.

I look forward to the day when they start building the Fit in America. Qaulity will be just as good, availability will be excellent, and the price will be reasonable.

Yeah but the jdm appeal will be gone. I was looking forward for this car specifically for the jdmness. A hot jdm car that finally is availble in America. Now if it is built in America, is doesn't seem as cool anymore in the jdm factor.

The Accord is one car...and is a much more expensive car at that.

Just do whatever makes you happy, but I find it hard to believe that after one year here they are gonna totally redesign it. Everybody seems to have this notion that somehow for 07 all we got was a 109hp subcompact, but if you wait there will be some 190hp SI....thats not gonna happen...

A total redesign for the Fit this year is a foregone conclusion in Japan. It will happen in 2007. Whether or not that particular iteration Fit will arrive in the U.S. right away is a different issue, however. My hunch is that the fully redesigned Fit will not be available in the U.S. until the fall of 2008 at the earliest, when the Greensburg IN plant is expected to go online (the Fit WILL be built there).

For those on the sidelines who are waiting, I would wait some more until there is concrete information on the next gen Fit.

No one really knows what improvements it will have, but they may be worth waiting for.

I dont think there is anything wrong with waiting, but people need to stop having these crazy notions of 190hp engines and "si" this and "si" that...this is the entry level car for Honda, it may get a few tweaks here and there but my money is on very similar performance...

Not to mention when the redesign does arrive, It will take quite a bit of time for aftermarket items to arrive. It seemed like a year before you could get more than an intake for the new Civic.

i'll probably wait a couple months more... dont really care about the increased hp because i like how economical the current fit is, i just wanna see the new design, see if i like it better, i was told by a friend to just get a used car for now then wait for the 08 fit, if i like it, buy it, if not get an 07 for a lower price - that is if its still available.

Exactly! For everyone who owns a current fit, we have a first model year and it was built in japan. I much rather have a honda that was built in Japan. Not that they are built better but it is the jdm appeal that I like. I don't really know how to explain it. It just makes it more authentic I guess!
