Good write up, very thoughtful and complete, and I don't think you need to worry about anyone thinking you were "banging" on anything.
It's the gear hunting in an auto that gets me. I know you can overcome that on the Sport with the S mode, but dammit, the only gear hunting in my car is going to be done with my right hand! I am just a unreformable Shift-It-Yourselfer.
