USB port not charging

USB port not charging
After a week of having my car, the usb port doesn't properly work. I have only used it to charge my moto x, so I haven't overloaded it. When I first plug it in, it indicates that the phone is charging on the lock screen but once I unlock it, the phone doesn't charge anymore. Is anyone else having issues with their phone charging. I have a USB cigarette lighter adapter, but I would rather use the one that came with the car.

make sure your USB cable, USB connector on both ends, the USB end to the Car and the End that connects to your phone isn't damaged or have anything torn, bent. If it okay condition, try and borrow another USB connector and see if that works.

That port isnt for charging. Only works 1 volt. It'll only do trickle charge. The best way to us it most effective, the shorter the cable, the faster the charge will be. My stock Samsung charging cable is just too long to give any effect. Also turn off the data while using that port. Syncing your email and such wille use more energy than that charger can replace. If you want faster charge, get cig lighter charger. it charges like most home chargers.some have 2 USB ports. 1-2amp and 1-1amp fora sec pax phone to do a slow charge. I hope this helps.

I've got a moto x pure and I don't bother with the built in usb ports on the fit. They're only 1 amp and they take forever to charge. Instead I bought an Anker 4 port that can send 2.1 amp to each port. The phone still charges while I stream music and run Waze at the same time

Why would they bother putting a port that can't even charge a phone? I'm gonna have some words with the salesman about it. I have a lighter adapter, but using the USB port looks cleaner and is more convenient. Pretty useless of Honda to put a barely functional port there.

That USB port can be used to connect your phone to the infotainment system, which should provide higher quality sound than bluetooth. Unfortunately it is low powered so the more you use it the less power you have in your phone.
I'll be adding a secondary 12v power supply, switched with a relay, and then one of those 12v to USB plugin sockets. I'm planning to be able to run my GPS as well as charge the device.
Has anyone plugged into a 12v USB port for more power and then connect with bluetooth? Does this work? It should. That way you'll have a freshly charged phone on arrival.

My main problem is when I first plug my phone in, it says it's charging on the lock screen(Android). Once I unlock the phone, it no longer indicates charging.
My wife recently bought a Fit EX.(I have an LX). I decided to experiment a little and took the cord that I use to her car. The phone charges while unlocked on both USB ports. Are the ports made differently on the EX?

fyi... I just confirmed that I get a full 1.9 amps with my thick charge cord and only .8 amps with my thin cord. I used the galaxy charge app that works with my S4 and shows the current charge current. The 1.9 amps also matches my high capacity original wall charger.
So bottom line, the USB port under the dash in the '15 EX is capable of at least 1.9 amps with the right cord.

huh, dat really sucks.. should be able to charge ur phone WHILE using USB access... something honda definitely needs to work on next time around.
all my cars can charge my iphone6S no issue while fully accessing like maps off carplay, native apps and all.

Yes it does, and I've also found that it also doesn't charge a phone. I think that it is only useful for thumb drives. I ended up using the cigar lighter socket with an adapter which is rather kludgy looking. Thanks Honda.

None of the 2015-17 Fits have a cigarette lighter, as smoking has fallen out of favour, but they all come with a 12v outlet. The single USB port is nearby.
