There's a LOT of demand for the Fit. It's about the only car on the market whose sales are currently increasing.
Based on this thread, I think less than half have actually paid as low as MSRP - most have had to pay more. I had to email about 10 dealers before finding one who would sell at MSRP. There are a couple of people who've reported getting their Fits for maybe $100 or $200 under MSRP.
But I may be missing something with your quotes - per
2009 Honda Fit - the Official Honda Web Site , the MSRP for the Base Manual Fit, no options, is $14,550; Base Auto, no options is $15,350.
Most of the reports are pre-Stock market crash - so it's quite possible that you'll do somewhat better than the rest of us.
