Auto or manual? Navi or no?

Going with 16.9K, I would assume it's sport AT without Navi. If it does have Navi, that's a steal. If it's just a Sport MT w/o Navi, then I wouldn't do it for that price, imo.

You probably have a bit of haggle room since some around the nation are selling for as low as $15800 with similar mileage. Although, you live in CA where prices are higher so you may not be able to go much lower. Also, is this a private seller or a dealer? A private seller may be more willing to haggle, depending on how desperate they are to get rid of it (especially in these economic times ).

You may want to print out a couple of other used 09 Fits around the area that may be selling for a lower price, in case you want to use that as leverage.

haha unfortunately, this seems to be the only used 09 fit that seems to be within my price range (through a dealer, anyways). i might consider private sellers, but gotta figure out the financing n such myself so we'll see if that ever gets done...haha

I actually got it for $15,650, but keep in mind I'm in MO.

I bought the FightingChance package.

Central IL, Honda Fit Sport AT w/Navi + carpet mats, bumper applique, cargo tray: 15,6 OTD. Gogogadgetcashforclunkers. Got the car for 18,625, plus the extras, seemed like a decent deal if not amazing. They padded the price of the extras some (to the tune of $50 vs other dealer's quotes), but not too much more than the other quotes I got. I picked the thread that google finds!

I was one of the lucky ones who go in on the Cash for Clunkers (that is going to be suspended tonight at midnight due to concerns over funding)

Here's my deal on a 2009 Honda Fit Sport Auto in Orange Revolution Metallic:

$16,479.00 Purchase price INCLUDING destination charges
$ 151.65 Doc preparation fee
$ 896.00 Sales tax
$ 81.00 Title and plate transfer fees
$ 799.00 6 year/120k mile/$0 deductible HondaCare warranty
$ 25.00 Illinois fee

$18,431.65 Total cost

-$4501.00 Cash for clunkers money

$13,930.65 Total financed at 4.44% for 60 Months

$259.32 monthly payment for 60 months

Oh yeah.....the dealer also threw in floor mats, wheel locks, cargo tray, and rear bumper applique'. Not big expensive stuff but $312 at MSRP.

My purchase price was $1045 UNDER invoice according to Edmunds who lists an invoice price (including destination charges) of $17,211

Go to New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews and Pricing - Edmunds.com, and plug in your Fit model info and area code, then look for the TMV (True Market Value). It's only an approximation, and prices have been distorted recently by the CARS frenzy, but TMV is probably the best starting point you can find. The dealer I went with, through an internet inquiry, quoted me exactly what Edmunds said was Invoice + delivery. This was, in fact, about $200 below what Edmunds said was TMV for the zipcode I used. YMMV

Just got my cash for clunker purchase today.

I got a 2009 base Fit in black with Auto tranny for $15,5000. I financed $11,000 at 4.4% for 60 months.

$11,000 for a new Fit isn't bad, right?

Comments?

Warner, was that honda of lisle by chance? They quoted me about 1k under invoice, which I took to my local dealer and ended up buying down here instead. Good thing, I would have been buying up there this weekend and it sounds like it might be too late!

No, it was Napleton Honda in Oak Lawn. Why did I drive 50 miles from my house to buy a car? Well, the short version of the story is that they assured me at the end of JUNE that they could do the CARS program early (and quoted me a low price because Honda was giving dealers a $500 rebate that ended in June). Of course when I got there, and they took their heads out from where they had them when they told me (3 times they assured me) that they could do the program early and admitted that they couldn't do it. So the internet director (Brian Cole) promised me that he'd honor the price they quoted me, PLUS throw in some extras to make up for my inconvenience. They did everything they said they would do....so I'm very pleased with the end result...in spite of the original hassle at the end of June.

base auto

State: Ohio (Cleveland)

Model: 2009 Base FIT w/ automatic

Purchase price: $15,300

OTD: (including tax @ 7.75, doc fee, and title) = $16,800

awaiting on my cash for clunker rebate for $4500..putting $6k total down with the clunker.....currently sitting at 5.5% APR but hoping it will drop to 4.4% that others have been getting considering my credit is A1

$200 off MSRP? Time to find a different dealer. Even if the dealer sells the car for you at "invoice," they still make over $300 just from the holdback. Throw in AHFC financing and they make even more. You can do FAR better than $200 off MSRP just by going through Costco, with no negotiation. On the West Coast, you can pick up a Fit at or below invoice w/no destination charge any day of the week. Don't be bamboozled by dealers that are saying "Fit's aren't being discounted." It's BS.
