$500 under MSRP!
Tafetta White Fit Sport (Auto. Trans.)
Purchased at Pohanka Honda in Fredericksburg, VA through the Costco auto program. I originally went in to look at '08s a few months ago, and the pricing at that time (before the '09s hit the dealerships) was $300 over invoice, which happens to be $300 below MSRP. When the new models came in, Costco and the dealership had not yet worked out the new pricing program, and of course the price of the cars increased a few percent (~3%).
I negotiated an additional $200 drop in the price in order to split the cost of the $399 'processing fee'. I told the salesperson that I thought $400 was excessive and wanted $200 accessories to compensate. She offered to reduce the price of the car $200 instead. She said the 'processing fee' is firm, but the price would be negotiable. She was great to work with, and very helpful.
$17079.28
($670 destination fee)
+ $399 - processing fee
+ $524.35 - VA sales tax
+ $10 - purchasers online systems filing fee
Sub Total - $18012.63
+ $48.75 - New tags
+ $17.08 - Dealer business license tax
Total - $18078.46 ($500 under MSRP)
and I got a free cargo tray to boot!
$8000 down payment, and a 5.25% rate on the 5 year loan (the car will be paid off well before then). Captial One Auto through Costco was giving me
5.47%, and Honda Finance was able to do a bit better.
Pay the $50 Costco membership fee, and use the auto program! It's worth it! Then, if you have no Costco convenient to you, or don't want to shop there, you can cancel the membership at ANYTIME and receive a 100% refund!
Edit: I also got the pinstriping for thrown in for free, and found a set of the wheel locks in my glovebox!
