Purchase Update

Dealing - 10/27/2009 for pickup 10/28/2009
Ok, all the dealers I called lied and didn't have a Base Manual. Many tried to bait and switch me to an auto. Turns out I liked the sport body much more so we started looking for a sport manual. I only found one at Honda of New Rochelle, NY. The guy started by saying the car was 17700 but he would give us a discount so he lowered it to 17009. (I thought the 9 was cute too...) I decided to offer between Inv and MSRP so I told him 16,500 and he accepted the offer right away. I feel he probably would have accepted 200 less so if I did it again I would have offered 16,000 and gone up from there. Here is a break down of the price:

Total Vehicle Price: 16500
Sales tax (7% NJ Tax): 1155
Waste Tire Management Fee: 12.50
Dealer Optional Registration and Title Certification Fee: 45 (Says I can opt out of this fee but $45 to not wait in the line at the tag office is ok. Dealer says they have the tag and everything.)
Total: $17,712.50

We went on a Sunday which I don't recommend. The banks are closed so they couldnt quote us a rate. Doesn't really matter though, I applied for a Costco Auto Loan and have a check arriving in the mail at 5.52% APR up to $14,000. We're going to pay the rest in cash. For all of you with low self-esteem with your credit, mine was pretty bad. My score is 694 and in good standing but I just paid off a charge-off for $4000 only 6 months ago and have another charge-off for $120 which I refuse to pay Verizon for. I would really suggest getting a Costco Auto loan check, before you go purchasing. And finally, I checked for insurance for me and my wife for 2 cars. I checked Geico, Esurance, and progressive. Progressive had a much better rate for us. I really hope my experience helps someone out in their purchasing!
