That is because whenever the gears like reverse or drive is engaged it puts a load on the engine which is pretty much normal for autos.

If you want to try an obvious way to see this, start your Fit while the engine is cold and just shift it from Park to Drive or Sport? Whenever you do take note at how the RPMs will go from 1500 to 5-600 RPMs and the engine almost stalls then goes up to 800 RPMS; which again, is caused by the gear engagement.
