New Fit (JDM) Top Seller for 7th Consecutive Month

Japan Automobile Dealers Association has just released the new car sales results in Japan for the month of May 2008. The Fit (JDM - next gen) was the No. 1 seller for the seventh consecutive month, exclusive of the kei class cars. There were 11,461 Fits registered for May '08.

No. 2 was the Corolla (11,377 units - very close!), followed by the Vitz (JDM Yaris, 8,078 units), Toyota Crown (7,797 units), and Toyota Passo (5,755 units).

Out of the top 10, six were Toyota, two were Nissan, and Mazda and Honda (Fit) had one each in Top 10.

Just as a side note, in March 2008, which is usually the biggest month for auto sales in Japan, Honda sold a whopping 25,933 Fits in that month alone, outdistancing the perennial nemesis, the Corolla, by more than 5,000 units.
