Noticed something in the trunk

After a long ride I noticed the right side of the trunk above the muffler was warm. I lifted the spare cover, touched the metal and was suprised how hot it was.

Not an issue, just suprising. I was wondering if I should put some insulation to keep the cabin temp more impervious to the muffler heat... but I'm probably fretting over nothing.

Still loving the little car. Using Pennzoil Platinum which the car seems to like btw.

id it were me, i'd take it into honda to have them check it. they may not find anything (not that it would be surprising) but if something were ever to happen related to that...you documented a concern

You could probably make a simple heat shield that would bolt to the body over top of the muffler. There is quite a bit of clearance there to play with. Some sound absorbing mat would also help dissapate the heat somewhat. You could also wrap your muffler in exhaust tape, which would be the simplest fix I can think of.

get a small roll of exhaust wrap from a drag racing store, it's reasonable in price...
