I was browsing aimlessly around the forum tonight and found a thread on removing the exhaust muffler. It's a 10 min job so i thought i'd give it a go, everyone was saying that it's just as good as fitting an axle-back kit..
if it sounds ok i'll try and get a straight pipe made up and keep it like that..
^ that's a vid showing what it sounds like + a straight pipe replacement
anyone got any idea whether it's legal to run without a muffler in the UK? Other than the amount of noise it makes + pollution issues would there be any thing else they could charge for?

and most people said that it made no real difference
The only thing i was concerned about was legality, don't want to get stopped and fined! just wanted to know whether driving without a muffler would lead to me getting done by police lol
cheers!

Don't want to get pulled over and fined/given points for driving with no muffler.. I've looked into getting a straight pipe made up, but that'll cost around £130.. planning on waiting till Jan and getting a discount!
So yeah, if anybody knows whether it's illegal that'd be great!

honestly it does make a huge difference... believe it or not it does... everytime when my brother and i go at it when were both stock (with muffler) were usually side by side... but when i unbolt i usually get him about a car and when i have mines on and his is off he usually gets me a car... oh and thats on a roll in second BTW... it pulls really really good in third gear... trust me it pulls =
oh and one thing... ***please let me know if i can talk about this? if not.. im sorry... to ADMINS/Rules...***
I have a straight pipe. It helps prevent me from spending a ton of money on an aftermarket muffler. More groan (not the high pitch raspy sound), no effect on gas, cops don't care. $60 for straight pipe = good deal.
I couldn't tell you about any performance difference but from that vid no muffler is definitely louder and more farty than my aspec axel back.
Depends on what you like.
