Quixx scratch remover review


i lend my 09 TW fit to my brother in law to move a cabinet (b/c he couldn't fit it in his civic) and it cameback with a nice long scratch along the hood. It was about 7 inches long right along the ridge line. I was doing some extensive research on various scratch removal products and I ended up going with this. It was very very easy to use and yielded amazing results.

Be aware that his will only remove minor scratches. If yours is down to the primer than this will not help. Mine was still fresh on the surface. The product came with 2 tubes of chemical (labeled #1 and #2). First you have to clean the surface of dirt / sand and what not. Then you apply #1. Rub it in circles with the cloth provide it and that will remove the scratch (instructions said 1-2 mins but mine literally came off right away). Then apply #2 and polish it up so its nice and shinny then you're good to go. A small strip of sand paper is also provided should you need to smooth out the surface but use with caution.

Overall im extremely satisfied with the product. There's no sign of the scratch ever being on the hood. Highly recommended

Did you have to use the sandpaper that came with it to take off some of the clearcoat? Saw this at Walmart a lot of times, but never needed it. I use Meguiar's ScratchX for scratches.

I think he mentioned he didn't need it since it was a very light scratch. You'll probably need to use sandpaper for deeper scratches. I'm guessing all that polish #1 is is a cutting compound.

no i didn't need the sandpaper. I read another customer's review on amazon and he mentioned the #1 chemical just "blends" the paint somehow (i know nothing about automotive paint and how they work). Either way the product worked the way it was intended to and I'm very satisfied. And yes that will definitely be the last time I'm lending out my car to anyone. I don't even know how he got a scratch on the hood from moving a cabinet.....

The way scratch removal works is by removing a microscopic layer of the clearcoat which is where the scratch is, revealing the fresh unscratched layer of clear coat underneath. Sandpaper will remove a bit more of the clear coat a time and if not used carefully might remove all of your clear coat down to the paint itself.
