Tofuman;237205]you have to take torque into consideration too.

Exactly! thanks for posting up those comparisons, i had the tq figures written down originally, but i didn't take the time to post them, so sorry guys!

torque is a huge factor. in my original layout, i included the VW gti (mkV) as it would be another contender in my choice to get a new car down the line or just charge the fit.

the VW weighs almost 300lbs more than the si, which is considerable! but how does it consistently post numbers on par or even (as is mostly the case) faster numbers than the si?

Torque.

Si has 139lbs, gti is rocking 207lb-ft as low at 1800rpms. (oh what turboing and direct injection can do!)

Even though the base kit on the kraftwerks fit is still shy of what the Si's stock number is, after taking into consideration how little we weigh, it'll make for a nice jolt off the line that we sorely need!

and 600-700lbs heavier than my fit. It's also spinning those ginormous 18" wheels that weigh at least 21-25lbs apiece. You see where im going? neither do i. point is, torque is slowly becoming less and less of a factor. The gap is closing, and i srsly wouldn't doubt that a SCed fit will be able to take an SI, even a GTI, in the near future. Our cars have that much potential. We'll have to wait and see

it only spins ginormous 18's if you want it too...and the ones that most people opt for are light-for-their-size-given-they-are-not-forged bbs'. it comes with stock 17's.

i dunno if tq is becoming obsolete, that kick in the pants that your butt dyno lets you feel will still be more important than any dyno number.

gti's run low 6 second 0-60 times....and they have plenty of kick on the freeway, given that downshifting (or dsg-ing ) give you that immediate 207lbs on tap, and the thrust that goes with it.

as of right now, our cars don't have the same potential as the civics and golf of yore and now. (plenty of mods for the si; reflash chip increases the gti's output to 250hp and almost 300lb-ft of tq for 500 bucks!) but soon, hopefully we will be able to claim the same.

again, i'm not really looking to beat an si or gti, but to be able to jump of the line quicker than they expected, or to keep up with them at a distance thats smaller than they had hoped, is what i'm after.
