The gap is closing, and i srsly wouldn't doubt that a SCed fit will be able to take an SI, even a GTI, in the near future. Our cars have that much potential. We'll have to wait and see

it only spins ginormous 18's if you want it too...and the ones that most people opt for are light-for-their-size-given-they-are-not-forged bbs'. it comes with stock 17's.
i dunno if tq is becoming obsolete, that kick in the pants that your butt dyno lets you feel will still be more important than any dyno number.
gti's run low 6 second 0-60 times....and they have plenty of kick on the freeway, given that downshifting (or dsg-ing

) give you that immediate 207lbs on tap, and the thrust that goes with it.
as of right now, our cars don't have the same potential as the civics and golf of yore and now. (plenty of mods for the si; reflash chip increases the gti's output to 250hp and almost 300lb-ft of tq for 500 bucks!) but soon, hopefully we will be able to claim the same.
again, i'm not really looking to beat an si or gti, but to be able to jump of the line quicker than they expected, or to keep up with them at a distance thats smaller than they had hoped, is what i'm after.
