Scosche kit question, depth vs metra kit.

Since the Scosche kit seems to be "recessed" a bit. Does that mean that a deck installed with the Scosche kit sits a bit further back, or is it just an illusion?

Illusion.. The Scoche kit has a recess to make the head unit look "flush" the Metra kit has the head unit mounted about an inch back from the kit and has a trim ring to make up the difference.

Just out of curiousity why is everyone concerned about mounting depth?.. There;s alot of space behind the head unit.

Thanks, I'm asking because I'm interested in a single DIN deck, and it can't be installed with a "trim ring" and sticks out a bit because it's so big. It has a 3.5 inch screen. Talking about the JVC KD-AVX33 btw.

Get the scoche kit for that head unit since the Metra kit has different spacings for the head unit and pocket. Your screen probably wouldn't clear the pocket on the Metra kit.

only 1 way to find out since the cavity behind the head unit isn't a perfect cube. Try it ...

I saw a pic here on fitfreak of a guy that used that deck with the Metra kit, it seem's to have worked out okay but it looked ugly as sin.
