Cheap stainless steel door sills

I've ordered a set of stainless steel door sills from HK-Plus. The door sills look a bit flashy for my tastes, but I expect them to be more scratch resistant than those made from plastic or aluminum. Also, the price is right at $46 (shipped) for the set. I previously ordered a leather topped armrest from HK-Plus with good results, so I am reasonably confident in the vendor.

I will post a review of them after they arrive and I get them installed.

I gave a partial review in this thread. I haven't given a full review of it yet since it hasn't been installed. Our Fit is now in and we are due to pick it up from the dealer tomorrow afternoon.

The stainless steel door sills arrived today. Shipping took 17 days (I was starting to get worried). From the return address on the box, they were apparently drop shipped from a company in Singapore (after being ordered from a company in Hong Kong).

The door sills look better in person than they did in the photos. I did a trial fit of the sills in the car without removing the backing from the adhesive. It looks like they will fit fine. I plan to install them tomorrow and get photos.

As far as the arm rest goes. I did install it, but I decided to get the JDM armrest/console instead. That's what's now in the car.

I installed the door sills the day before yesterday and now have photos.

The installation was straightforward. I cleaned each sill area with alcohol. I peeled off the blue protective film from each sill piece and then cleaned it with Goo Gone followed by alcohol. I trial fit each sill piece and marked the location with masking tape. I used the tip of my pocket knife to start the peeling process to remove the backing material off of the adhesive strips. I gently located each sill piece and then pressed it firmly in place. In all, it took about 30 minutes to install all four.

Since the eBay auction for the door sills shows close up photos of them, I shot a couple of pictures that show how the door sills look from the point of view of a person getting in the car.

Overall, I'm happy with the door sills. They look fine and will serve the purpose of protecting the sill paint while being difficult to scratch themselves.

I would have preferred a matte "brushed nickel" finish myself. However, the only door sills I could find like that were ones made from aluminium or plastic coated aluminium. Such sills would scratch easily and look like hell in a few years. That's why I decided to go with chromed stainless steel instead.

i have a set of matte finish and brushed ones I bought
