How come the new Fit doesn't have new-style door handles?

I really like those new style of door handles where you pull the latch out to open the door as opposed to the old-style where you pull up the lever to open the door.

The new-style seems easier to open to me, especially when the door is slightly frozen due to cold weather.

Are the new-style handles more expensive? Is there any reasoning behind what style of door handle a manufacturer chooses? With few exceptions, it seems most new cars have the new-style handles.

Probably more expensive. I like the door handles, but I know what you are talking about with the doors icing up; you won't be able to get much leverage with the current door handles.

I don't think they'd look good on the Fit. Would mess up the nice lines. I like the 09 door handles better than the 08 ones.
