Hey smeister, what kind of weather strips did you use for mounting that bowl? Is it strong enough under constant road abuse and over a long time will they degrade?? Great work again!!

Got 'em finished!!! Took around 17 hours to complete everything, including the countless adjusting for the cutoff I think that's record time being my first time! Although, i will give credit where credit IS DUE...i ONLY attempted this project because of smeister's infinite answers to all of my questions, and his awesome DIY. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow of the outcome!!

I just bought some foam weather strip from Ace Hardware. I don't remember the specs off hand and I just threw away the bag since I used most of it up on the last retrofit. It is self adhesive on one side and is black about quarter inch thick and wide.

Hahah you are very welcome with the answers. The DIY is up for a good reason and I am glad people are putting it into use. So now that it is done, lets see those pictures!!!

I am thinking about doing something different on my own headlights. I took a bunch of pictures of headlights at the Chicago Auto Show this weekend so maybe I'll get some new ideas and try them out.

a couple of things for the DIY.... the screws you need for the projectors are 4mmx50mm long, and the weatherstrippping for the dog bowls is called self-adhesive sponge rubber(black). it is not the open or closed cell vinyl foam.

Thx for the answer...but in this picture above for the right "projector" , I see that the weatherstrip is a glossy finish on top between the lens and bowl, I just can't picture how the strip can hold the bowl in place for good if you just tape it around on top...does it hold tight??

It holds tight because the bowl sits ON TOP of the weatherstrip. It is squeezed on there and then the weatherstrip expands again.

With the black inbetween the projector and the dog bowl it also creates a light and dark contrast , which brings out the rings/BLING factor lol.

Try to help me out here...so the black portion in between the bowl and lens is part of the bowl and painted black since your weatherstrip is sitting on bottom of the bowl? If that thing is a weatherstrip, it's a hell nice looking strip!!

The black part inbetween the dog bowl ring and the ring around the projector's lens is the weatherstrip. That is not paint. The only paint is the outer lip of the dog bowl to conceal the DOG BOWL look.

No, i used Dupli-color Cast Coat Iron(dry--it comes out mettalic semi-gloss) on them. I wanted them to stand out from the SSM(like most people are doing with painting theirs black), but also keep it similar to my smoked tails.
